I've had several scary experiences on cannabis. One was when I was about 18. I had some Thai stick and smoked a large amount of it. I was going to put a record on, but I was already very stoned and I sat down on my bed to get my bearings. I looked out of my window and... time stopped. I had experienced time dilation on LSD before, but this was amazing. Things outside looked too still, as if time really had stopped. I had a loud and intrusive thought, that was almost like hearing a voice. It said: "The writer is taking a break. Your life will resume momentarily. Please remain calm." Easier said than done. As soon as I heard the voice, I had a life flashing before my eyes experience. It seemed to be from birth to the present... and then beyond. I realized that I was a character in a book. I was okay with that until I had the powerful conviction that I was a character in a Stephen King book. All of my life to that point had been character development and back story. The scary and bad stuff was about to start happening. I sat there, looking out of my window, stuck in a cognitive loop of anxiety and terror. It seemed to last forever. Then my friend came into my room and broke the spell. I had forgotten that she was there, waiting for me to come back outside. She told me that she'd been waiting for 5 minutes. To me it had been an infinity.

That was a pretty psychedelic cannabis experience.

I do not enjoy it orally. Very hard to control the dosage, and the time delay can be sort of irritating. More importantly, I find the effects to be to heavy in a sort of narcotic sense- mind shuts down rather than lights up. If that's what I was looking for, I'd be eating vicodin rather than smoking weed.

this is for the most part how i feel as well, but a fairly low dose of some activated hash followed by a smokeout (no time delay that way Smile) can be quite pleasant. its nice not having to pack a bowl every other hour or so.

I'm right here too. I don't bother eating hash or weed anymore unless I have a pitcher of espresso handy. Alone, it's too much like getting hit with a tranq dart for me. When super-caffeinated though things can get pretty interesting.

As far as the psychedelic effect... after 25 plus years of smoking cannabis... the psychedelia only comes out when it's a crazy bubble hash hour-long bong session, and that doesn't happen very often. I don't think I recall much psychedelic effect when I was first starting out... good stoney highs and mind expanding thought processes, but nothing like shrooms/acid/DMT... not even close. It has ALWAYS helped me get in a groovier headspace though.

thanks again for the feedback...anything taken orally seems to expand the exposure time of the trip, but it somehow diminishes the intensity...at least for me with salvia, I don't know about cannabis.

Some people don't like the rush sensation one gets when something is smoked, they say it's too intense and everything happens too fast. From my experience, that happens only when you are not willing to observe without judging what you are shown. If you relax and go with the flow "time" seems to slow down and you can see the details. Of course it still happens really fast compared to oral, but I find it to be more exciting. It's as if the "beings", or whatever they might be, know you have little time so they rush to show you EVERYTHING...that can be overwhelming, but it can also be very beautiful...plus, if you somehow end up having a bad trip then you can always remind yourself(from experience) that it will end soon...what cannot be said about oral intake:/

Eat enough weed and you will be more stoned than you imagined possible, for a lot longer than usual. Be warned, your face might melt off in the process! Wink

@Infineon

I know exactly what you are talking about. The grin won't just come of your face. Big grin

I have also very psychedelic experiences with Cannabis. I usually take very small amounts, about 0.05 - 0,1g in a vaporizer. This alone causes an interestingly altered state of mind. Many new insights and ideas came to me this way. I also like to boost the experience with N2O. Lying down, putting headphones with Pink Floyd on and inhaling a balloon really gives me an intense experience.
My first experience I would classify as psychedelic was also with Cannabis orally. I think I was about 15 at that time. We went outside and had immense fun with a big sitting ball, throwing it at house walls in the middle of the night and trying to hit the lights of street lamps... A lot of laughing, strange feelings, extraordinary thoughts...
But it is not easy to dose it right. I have two other experiences when I basically was a vegetable in a armchair until I fell asleep. Laughing

It seems to me that most users have no idea of the psychedelic properties of this plant. When I bring up this topic in an otherwise very sophisticated forum dedicated to the culture of cannabis, almost everyone thinks I am crazy when I tell them my usual doses or ask about psychedelic experiences with Cannabis. Many Cannabis users I know smoke their 2g or more a day and it is purely recreational for them.

It is amazing how many people here share such extraordinary consumption patterns. But then again this forum attracts many extraordinary minds.

well as the more experienced guys said above, it's all about the user's body and how often you take, tolerance builds up quickly with cannabis...with almost anything if I come to think about it

one time I smoked a half gram joint between me and a friend and I had a whole story unfold inside of my head of the earth being hit by a meteor and then blossoming into a flower and saw the circle of life (all in closed eye visuals) so yeah I would say you can definitely have a trip, decently intense too.

flower related visuals or patters are very common in cannabis trips...I always see multi-petalled lotuses or flowers blooming...especially at the beginning on the top of my head it just opens up like in a timelapse

sky motion, that must have been interesting, I assume you observed without wanting to change the course of the trip, you just let it unfold?...when I just let it unfold it gets weird as I said but in a good way

As a daily toker, it takes me 5 days to reset my cannabis tolerance. But any break over two hours and I get ripped from the next bowl.

Now a personal question and I do hope that I do not offend anyone, that is not my intention...

But I read that a lot of you are daily smokers...is it because of "addiction" to the substance or is it more like to the feeling that it generates?

Again, I do not wish to upset anyone with this question...I'll take it off if you want, but I am curious because some of my friends say that it is addictive in some way...like they can quit anytime they want with a little bit of will, it's not like they have to have the next joint in the next 4 hours tops...but they say that the feeling is a bit...

I don't know about that, but when I smoke I make the experience intense and I know for sure that I would not like to experience that every day, not even once a week, it would make me feel uncomfortable...I am talking about fairly normal use...

Cannabis imo is addictive. I can go without, sure, but there is always a craving during that time. My use does fluctuate however, at the moment I get through approx 2-3 grams a week, which is much more manageable (both mentally and financially) than my old 14g a week habit Shocked When I smoked that much, going for a few days without was actually rather unpleasant.

I use it for a variety of reasons, and it has so many uses, including unfortunately it being a fantastic 'security blanket' - stressed? angry? depressed? Have a joint! - this, IME is where people need to be careful, as that leads to habitual use, as it is not a solution... But, I think it is a far better option than alcohol for instance.

Any how, for me to get proper psychedelic effects from weed, I either need to have a break, eat a 'flood dose', or smoke with harmalas - which by the way is a fantastic way of potentiating cannabis, and seems to negate any paranoia / negative aspects that occasionally come with being 'super high'. I don't find weed to be a visual psych though.

most likely, weed is still next to impossible to quit whereas i had no problem quitting tobacco or alcohol or anything with actual physically addictive properties... so i think it would just be fooling myself to think otherwise.
that being said i think i would rather be addicted to cannabis than really anything else.

i heard that thc melts your brain and that drips down into your spine so that when you crack your back you think you are a glass of milk/water/orangejuice and have a heart attack when you tip over and jump out of a building because you think you can fly.
