Sounds like they're working well for you. Apparently alkaloids can be an acquired taste - I hear people say cacao nibs, syrian rue seeds, and San Pedro juice/powder all improve in taste after a few goes. On the other hand, people seem to think the ayahuasca/caapi brew has the opposite tendency - it can taste sweet at first, but after a few tries it starts tasting awful. Either way, enjoy those nibs. I find they go really well with blue agave nectar (which doesn't cause intense blood sugar spikes, unlike refined cane sugar). Another thing to add - apparently the cacao plant and the coffee plant are like brother plants: the coffee plant requires shade to grow, which the cacao tree provides, and the cacao tree prefers acidic soil, which the coffee bush provides.

wierd, i've never heard that. I can't ever see myself getting used to the taste of san pedro, or syrian rue brews, but i don't doubt some do. On the otherhand i have definitely gotten accustomed to the taste of caapi tea, and i don't really mind it now. I also love cacao now as well but didn't care for it at first. I've found this with a lot of foods to. After deconditioning off of a typical westerner diet you're tastes can change and the subtleties in foods are really brought out and enjoyed. Thats why just eating an orange on mushrooms is orgasmic Big grin

Ah, maybe not the brews, but the seeds and dried cactus chips have definitely improved in taste; I've heard others say this about the chips. Just eat them slowly, savour that bitterness.

Having the brew means the liquid swarms the stomach and coats the throat as it goes down. The seeds are isolated points. For this reason I think the seeds much more pleasant, and also easy to control the amount eaten that way. I think the body learns that they're good medicine (anti-parasitic properties, etc) hence learns to enjoy the taste.
