mushrooms take me as deep as DMT as well. Personally I have never understood the whole thing abotu DMT being way farther out than a large mushroom dose.

^..agreed, but i switched 'teachers' from mushrooms of dmt-plants, after feeling the shrooms were a bit pushy in their 'agenda'..
btw, Peter T. Fusrt has studied and written a bit on traditional use of mushrooms (as i just mentioned in the Castaneda debate) ..see http://www.amazon.com/Peter-T.-Furst/e/B001JS5WIW for book list..

mushrooms can be very pushy..though for me that also makes the experience feel sort of full somehow and I like that about them. They are like little eco beings with opinions. I also like how they are so funny..nothing makes me laugh like that and I often come out of a mushroom experience feeling more like myself than ever.
Long live the unwoke.

This really interesting documentary called "Peyote to LSD, A Psychedelic Odyssey" goes into this a little bit. It's a fascinating documentary, with a great soundcheck taboot.

You can find it on YouTube, but it was also posted on the Shroomery in this thread;
