Where did you get this from. This is certainly not whats been happening in Spain and this is exactly why the movement here has gained so much power, because of peaceful protesting. If there was violent protesting, it wouldnt have gained the support it did and already influence politics in a significant way.

When police came, we wouldnt run away but just sit down and lock arms and resist peacefully, and if we got thrown away, we would come back, with even more people. You can read more about it here

The issue is American pigs are trained to be violent. You can look through the photos and videos of the past couple days and see many pigs taking out non-violent protesters and fabricating reasons for doing so. The Americans involved in this clearly do not fear the pigs, otherwise they wouldn't be out there getting corralled by a presence of 1 pig per 2-3 protesters. No one is running from the pigs, they are trying to maintain a non-violent protest. Thus, when things start to get violent from the pigs, you clear out of the area of the fracas and regroup. This is a rather basic strategy of non-violent protests.

Well, Greece came to my mind when I made that post, not the recent peaceful protests of Spain. The thing with American police is that they can imprison a person for a lengthy period for the silliest reasons, most of the time fabricated or exaggerated, so coming back is quite difficult.



In my opinion, the police will always have the upperhand with these non-violent measures by the dissenter, at least in America's case. They're accustomed to abusing their power, like you said, so protests without resistance allow the officers to have a field day.

Protests involving pigs must remain nonviolent...it's not fair to just claim that all these people corrupted, whether or not they can think clearly and/or abuse their power, this is their occupation and how they maintain food/clothes/shelter. Given that we all currently operate within this capitalist paradigm, you can't fault these individuals; if they didn't work their jobs, someone else would (same and even moreso for CEOs). We need to end the system that allows for this, getting angry at the people for doing their job (regardless of how abusive they may be) benefits no one.

Of course the pigs will always have the upper hand...the point is to show them and the world at large that the movement is committed to change through nonviolence. Once more people begin to see the dedication to non-violence and the fact that the protesters are trying to peacefully air their grievances, the potential for more people (including former pigs) to join the movement increases, even if they maintain media blackouts to the degree that have been displayed thus far.

The people against whom violence should/may be unleashed are the "1%" if they should refuse to surrender their obscene wealth and privilege.

my heart is with all these protests. I wish I could go. Whether it is the protests in bolivia against the highway or these against the capitalistic system. I feel this will to transform is in the air. perhaps we can finally overcome what has been dominating us for so long... I hope things move forward in a good way!

Very new to this... movement or revolution, it's incredible that it's happening the way it is, and exploding.
Very scary that noone I know has heard a thing about it until now, scary how the media keeps a cap on it, goes to show the length of which they can filter our consciousness.

Actually, if I may ask, have any of you been feeling like something is going to happen or that something is happening, in these last few weeks or months?

I certainly have. My third eye chakra has been going nuts for the last week (in part due to an amazing first time experience with a certain lysergic tryptamine over a week ago). Then, the other day something inside my head just *clicked* and I knew something was up. I spoke to a few of my roommates, as well as the other people there tonight and two of them had similar experiences (minus the acid). Have any of you?
