In my honest opinion, i'm pretty sure people over-exaggerate the supposed risks of Harmala alkaloids. I can only speak for myself here, but as much as i've taken/worked with it, they're pretty damn safe. Like i said, there's some things you don't wanna mix with it like certain medications or drugs, and not just because of the MAO-A inhibition, but also the CYP inhibitions as well which can potentiate many different medications/drugs, including Caffeine. As long as someone doesn't recklessly mix something with it that they're not supposed to, nobody is going to have an issue consuming Harmalas imo. Reversible MAO-A inhibition is not really risky at all, they've even successfully combined SSRI's with Moclobemide in a couple of studies i've found. So i think the supposed dangers/risks of Harmalas (reversible MAO-A inhibition) is a bit over-exaggerated a lot of the time. Still though, it's best to be cautious and safe, just in case, but don't go out of one's way to avoid a bunch of stuff because they're wanting to take Ayahuasca. I feel like if more people experimented around and worked with Harmalas with the reverse tolerance built up, they could determine a lot better what interacts with Harmalas and what doesn't.
