Songs with classical guitar are actually very good prior to blasting. Such as Oscar Lopez and Jesse cook. OTT and some chill out lounge music(sort of relaxing) is good too.
I've noticed how the song affects the experience alot, and for me, attracts different sort of entities. Even when I'm totally out there, usually I can hear the music quite clearly. It's fun also how the entities kind of dance/move/transform with the music. Music also helps relieve the possible anxiety prior to blasting off. I recommend music to anyone who hasn't tried it yet with dmt.

I try not listen to music if I'm going for a breakthrough, or I leave it on very quietly. During my recent "flow" sessions with low dose vaped DMT and more recently Changa (Good lord I love changa!) I usually listen to psybient/chill, the less obtrusive the beats the better. This site - http://psy-amb.blogspot.com is a great source for free mixes. they also have some intersting posts like psychedelic videos etc... anyway this is by far my favourite mix from the site so far http://psy-amb.blogspot....mix-download-psyamb.htmlIf you scroll down you'll find a player and the option to download the mix for free. Theres a great bit from 57:00 onwards. I have had some of my most interesting experiences during the songs from there on. hope you likey! Sonorous fractal manifestastions, birthing golden vibrations, that echo through folds of space & time, ferry my soul closer to God

Aes Dana is one of the artists who can trigger really strong visuals when in meditating state. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MobFZrD_cXQIf you position yourself in front of the speakers correctly you will notice that even the music itself has a perfect geometry...the panoramic movement of the sounds and how they are arranged.I think this kind of music listened on DMT can stimulate the visual patterns or order them somehow as we percieve the vibration of the sound wave. I had experiences on larger doses on acid, where i could actually see the sound waves as distinctive forms spreading from the speakers..

So I launched with a couple of friends yesterday evening and decided to depart form the easy-going, not too beat-heavy ambient thing. I tried this mix: http://soundcloud.com/21.../214-welcome-to-2012-mixIt was utterly immense! 214 is quite incredible! The mix jumps from intricate electro to the more slamming bass-heavy shit to wrap your head round. Can’t praise that mix enough. More of his stuff here: http://soundcloud.com/214_electro

Any music you like will be good... I've even listened to Iron maiden I also like guitar music such as oscar lopez and jesse cook. Down to the bone is great! It's brought a true party to my room twice now, where the entities start braking some dance! I listen to different music almost every time I blast... It gives me a nice base with a good vibe. That's why I rarely travel without music. But I don't put the music very loud.

great thread. so much music to experiment with. I've only had one experience with dmt and electronic music and everything during my trip was dancing non stop. it was one of my most unique experiences. as above, so below

I'm so glad there are other people who blast off to 'normal' music with me. Don't get me wrong, Shpongle is awesome. It just has to have certain criteria for me; happy, melodic, and above all fun. Even though I can hear the music through the entire trip the sounds of hyperspace are usually louder anyway. I consciously pick music I think the elves will enjoy with me. I always see them at the end of the trip, like they're saying bye, and what's a goodbye party without music? They like MGMT, Phoenix and Passion Pit.

Sometimes, SWIM has the experience that VERY familiar music becomes something completely new in Hyperspace. Songs stretch on and on for minutes that aren't on the recording... new verses, tongue in cheek choruses commenting on your thought processes. One time, a flamboyant male elf came out and took over the music singing AMAZING shit that was surely not on any human made song. Another time, David Bowie himself seemed to come out of Hyperspace to add a few new verses to Starman... which was far more cosmic than it had ever been before. Anyone else have this kinda thing happen? "Curiouser and curiouser..." ~ Alice

Sometimes songs will seem like they're lasting longer or new parts are added. It's usually still pretty good though, and sometimes sick enough I wish it was a real song.

as everyone knows shpongle is always a classic but here's a list of things i like to listen to or may listen to on dmt: ott, bluetech, younger brother, ravi shankar, instrumental king crimson, tribal music, john cage, beethoven, prem joshua. these are all great though i usually prefer silence in nature What are we but stupefied dancers to a discordant stystem, we believe - so we're mislead we assume - so we're played we confide - so we're deceived we trust - so we're betrayed

With trip music, there are a few directions to go for me. A) Familiar Music With Nostalgia Factor - Nothing makes you feel warm and cozy and gooey inside more than tunes that you have very positive memories associated with. This is obviously different for everyone, but can include otherwise cheesy music, youthful favs that actually suck, show tunes, as well as your all time favorites... the song playing on your prom night slow dance, Disney style cartoon music, that worn out cassette that you listened to on a loop in your walkman etc. B) Atmospheric Music & Uplifting Sounds - This stuff is great to set a vibe and not overly demand your attention. Stuff that transforms the fabric of the soundscape and injects good vibes. Indian Classical Music, Dub Reggae, Ambient, Baka Pygmy Music, Aborigine Didj Stuff, Tibetan Throat Singing with Bells, Renaissance Madrigals, Brainwaves layered with Nature Sounds, even some New Age stuff. It doesn't have to be backgroundish, but can simply raise the vibration and create feelings of love, light, divinity etc. It might not be stuff you would normally dig either. Gospel is AMAZING. Ravel's Bolero will blow your mind. Shimshai's Suddhosi Buddhosi or All That I Am. A little Bob Marley never hurts... C) Really Complex Music Which JAMS HARD - This includes the usual suspects. Jam, Prog, Krautrock, Jap Acidrock, Fusion, Jazz-Rock, Space Rock, Canterbury etc. Some purely electronic music can qualify too. Dubstep & Psytrance... some Goa. The most intricate Classical Music fits here as well. The main thing is that there is some jaw-dropping virtuosity to go with the jaw-dropping visuals. Hyperspace beings love the virtuosos, and will come out to chill with you if you play them some sick ass shit. They are not impressed with most pop drivel or seriously repetitive stuff. Even stuff that is great for dancing at a club often makes them smirk. Hit them with something like Billy Cobham's Quadrant or Steve Vai's Tender Surrender or For The Love Of God... Primus... They really dig the impossible Chopin piano pieces. The Rock from Rachmaninov. Even stuff like Steely Dan's Bodhisattva and The Grateful Dead's The Eleven. Ozric. Zappa's Guitar Jams. John McLaughlin. Soft Machine's Hazard Profile. Stuff like Pink Floyd's Echoes... Rush's 2112 or Xanadu. D) Music That Makes You Wanna Cry - Believe it or not, these sad songs are often gold. They are direct from the heart, and this quality of soul makes them epic when you're out there. Otis Redding, Donny Hathaway, Joni Mitchell... the gut wrenching stuff from Ben Harper. You know the shit. Blues. Anyway. I am sure you all have your own philosophies about this. Some music hits two or more categories and gets bonus points. Looney Tunes Jazz from the 30's & 40's is SICK. (Carl Stalling was a GENIUS). A lot of music from that era works like gangbusters. Speakeasy, Ragtime, New Orleans. Hard to have a bad one with Louis Armstrong or Sidney Bechet playing. "Curiouser and curiouser..." ~ Alice
