Hello, friends! First time posting here.

I had a pot induced DMT experience, which is what led me to find this forum!

My trip was simultaneously the most beautiful, profound, most terrifying yet humbling experience of my life. What I experienced coincides with so many others experiences, given that I did NOT take DMT. I was literally blasted out of my body and into the trans existent spiritual realm where I met an "entity," lost my humanity and became a pure soul of the universe. Previous to my experience, I had never taken DMT nor had I even heard of DMT. 😕 I've only ever smoked weed... Lol! Has this happened to anyone else?

Like most of you, what I saw and felt has changed me forever. 😌

I'm trying to make sense of my experience, if that is even possible. I always feel the need to know "why" or "how"

My weed was not laced with DMT. Only weed has ever been smoked out of the bong I was using- which I shared with my two friends who were completely fine and enjoying a "regular" high. I am also not a deep meditator either, where it might make more sense as to why I was 'forced' into this journey. I understand it is possible to have a "DMT experience" without actually taking DMT/ ayahuasca.

Apologies that I'm not copy+pasting my journey in this post! I'm not sure if there is a word count else this would be a very long post, as I wrote about it in detail. (I'm using my cellphone.) I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules by posting a link to another website, truthfully I'm not used to posting in forums. This is actually my first time creating a topic in a forum, ever. 😳

http://freakinglifeman.b...ethyltryptamine.html?m=1

I hope it is, at the very least, an interesting read for anyone who wants to read it. Thank you for your time! I sincerely appreciate it and it means a lot!

It is not, although it sounds as though whatever experience you did have was meaningful to you. It just wasn't a DMT experience, I promise you.

so let me get this right; your friends had the same weed, there is no way your friends could have put something in it and you had an OOBE? how long did it last? what were your friends doing when this happened? it is really strange, but there has to be an explanation for it, you could have been tired or in a meditative state beforehand, if you havent had dmt before its hardly fair to say 'it was a DMT experience'

^^I'm with Art here - it's easy to think experiences are similar to one another when looking at the descriptions online, and hell, sometimes they even are, but that doesn't mean they were caused by the same thing. DMT experiences are defined by having been induced by the administration of DMT.

It's possible to have similar effects from other psychedelics or even spontaneous, but this is rather rare. Our brains are incredibly complex so it's really hard to say what triggered it. It would be interesting to know if you can repeat it.

I know some people believe that you visit a real dimension as though it were a separate physical universe, as you imply in your blog, but this is just a theory among many and one Strassman found particularly intreaguing. Personally, I like to take a step back from these theories and just take in the lessons learned and the experience gained. Though of course it is wonderful to marvel at.

"Has this happened to anyone else?" Well, I have had similarly intense experiences from weed alone, so I guess "yes"? I'm not really clear why you're calling this a DMT experience though. I mean, I understand that those are the reports you've found which best match your own experience, but why not just call it a "really intense OBE from marijuana". People have intense experiences on many different drugs, or on no drugs at all. DMT isn't the only thing capable of launching the mind into strange places.

I'll just reply to everyone in this post. Haha. Honestly, I just simply didn't know what else to call it since nothing else except the experiences described on DMT come close to describing what happened. I'm sorry if it offends anyone that I said DMT. I don't mean to be ignorant.

I wasn't tired, I don't meditate or do yoga and I'm not a religious person, if that has anything to do with anything. I'm healthy, I wasn't sick, i work out regularly and I have a positive outlook on life. Trust me, this happened in March, the next morning I wrote it all down. A few weeks later I decided to deal with it and search the internet for answers. And I just now got around to posting it because I looked for any other rational explanation as to why this happened.

We took turns taking hits, I even stopped but they continued. My friends didn't do anything to the weed, nor did they disturb me since I was just sitting on a bench and they were talking among themselves. Razz

It lasted around 10- 15 ish minutes.

What you guys are saying does make more sense and certainly seems more logical. I was just confused at the startling similarities between my experience and others. It was probably just an intense out of body experience. And you're right, what I felt and learned from this experienced is way more important than anything else!

Peace :-)

Are you sure there was no Salvia in the bowl? Were you the first to smoke it?
I've been a long time pot-head, smoked a lot of different strains, and types of THC products and I have never had an experience like you describe. Was it your first bong toke? We're you the first one to smoke it?
Love for all things first.

I doubt anyone's offended here. Very happy You had a powerful experience and went looking for some answers about what happened. I think you've come to the right place. There is plenty of discussion about altered states here, and not all of them produced by
dmt, or even by drugs.

Also, there's no "just" about an intense out of body experience! I certainly didn't mean to imply that non-dmt experiences were necessarily weaker or invalid in any way! Quite the opposite, I think your report was very interesting and should stand alone.

I can recall one of my first bong rips as a teenager, I was still relatively new to smoking weed. It got me so high that I locked myself in the bathroom huddled over the toilet and tripped balls for a good hour and a half.

Years later, having been smoking weed this whole time, it's crazy to me that there was such a strong effect that day.

I'd say that it's possible that MJ can produce that strong of an effect, but I'd also say, with my understanding of self-realization, that you were mentally and spiritually in a very balanced place to receive a gift like you did in the context that you did.

The balance and harmony in your life deemed you worthy of something so profound without really having to seek it out, and you were/are very easily able to detach yourself from your current reality without fear in order to experience it.

I tend to believe that even a nanosecond of fear would have ripped you from such an easily induced state.

What was bliss for you could have been the worst smoking session of another person's life.

Congrats!

It sounds like you should smoke some DMT and give us insight to the comparison!

I've had this internal argument thousands of times. Is weed psychedelic? Well, I can tell you YES, IT IS ime. I've been having psychedelic illusions all week long from weed.

However they are not like DMT. The visuals are there, pulsing of walls, wood looks like liquid swirling around, stone counter tops look like water with food coloring swirling around on top. Objects are growing and shrinking. Light CEV colors. Overlay of like a colored visual static, and brighter colors. However, no morphing, no bodily hallucinations or feelings, and the mental part wasn't quite the same. I know its not DMT because this persists for about 2 hours, and fades with the head band feeling I have from weed.

Weed to me has a bit of a different mind then classical psychedelics. I don't know for certain, but I think its more likely you were having the psychedelic effects from weed for the first time. Weed also can make me much more paranoid than say LSD. I've run around frantically thinking helicopters were flying around my house only to find out it was just lots of traffic echoing off the lake.
Another time after I had abstained for a few weeks I smoked 4 bowls and started seeing cartoons in my skin. I wouldn't believe it if I read it from 200 other people, but I saw it, I hadn't done any other drugs in several weeks as well (except caffeine).

@lostinthought There was no salvia in the bowl, this I am beyond positive of. Otherwise my friends would have been tripping also and I wouldn't be on this forum. Besides, "Matt" would have told me that he's putting salvia in. He's my soul brother. It was just weed. Nothing else. 😮 not going to lie, I did wish it was laced or that it was my first time smoking for the sake of my own sanity.😅 Lol! But nothing.

I was also sooooo disappointed for days after because I thought that I suddenly couldn't handle weed after all this time and "it wasn't meant for me." I was so angry at myself because i LOVE weed lol. Actually everyone that night was very shocked that I was having a "bad trip". Guess cause I'm always chilled out when I smoke. And I thought that if I couldn't handle that how could I move on to shrooms and LSD? Especially when I was going to shroom for the first time the next day, with Matt. I was looking so forward to it!!!! But I chickened out mans. Sigh.

@curb sorry looking back at your post, I realize you're asking how long the entire thing lasted. I thought you meant how long the blasting portion I described in my blog lasted. Okay, overall the smoking started at around 7:15- 7:30pm, blasting out of my body portion started at 7:50ish then the entire thing ended at 9:55pm. After that I felt normal high. Maybe I should add this in my post. Lol. So this lasted around 2 hours and 30 minutes ish...

I should also mention that Matt and I smoked earlier in the day (and the day before), around 11 am, out of the same bong with the same weed. Nothing strange happened then, just the good ol' usual high. And then when my second friend Jon (who's matts brother) comes around 7 pm we start smoking again bc I wasn't high anymore at that point, obviously. Though Matt was because he ate an edible around 5:30 p.m. I didn't eat an edible because I didn't want to get super stoned that day. Haaa.😑 We actually got around to smoking around 7:15- 7:30 since we had trouble finding an empty spot. We cleaned the bong before we packed it again with the same weed. And that's when I experienced what I did. This time again I did not take the first hit, Jon did then me then Matt, and we continued in that order. Jon ended up driving us back to their house around 8:20 p.m. Where we sat outside until I finally sobered up enough to drive home which was around 9:45p.m.

Even then I saw these geometric patterns everywhere so it was a little stupid of me to still drive home like that, but by then I thought it was all in my head and I was able to focus on the road. It was around 9:55 pm when the patterns finally stopped.

Also when I woke up the next day I still felt a little bodily high and super tired.

@adjhart thank you. I'm also glad I went through what I did the way I did. :-)

@Muskogee Herbman cartoons on your skin? Haha! I wonder what that must have looked like. Given my experience, I also believe weed can be psychedelic 😉

Thanks for your responses everyone! 😄 when I am ready to try DMT, I shall share my experience! I don't know when that will be though! Haha.

I'd say that was probably more a mental thing than the drugs themselves. I remember when I was a young'un, I had very mild hallucinations on weed I was told was laced with something. However, with both age and experience on my side now, I'd probably say I was more a mixture of stoned and open to the placebo effect.

What you describe could be possible from weed, I guess, but only if you hyperventilated before hitting a bong, and it'd probably be more the hyperventilation than the weed Thumbs up

I liked your trip report, even though there were too many F words Embarrased
I'm really surprised that you took off, came back to your senses then took off again. How was it when you came back to your senses before taking off again? Were there vivid visuals?

I'm also surprised by this sentence: "my friend Matt said that my eyes rolled to the back of my head during this part for about 5 seconds." How do you know at which point of your trip this happened?

Have you smoked more weed since? If all of this came from the weed, you should be able to get similar effects again.
Generally speaking, once one has acknowledged the effects of a drug, it's easier to feel/acknowledge/appreciate the same effects with future intakes. (sorry, I have trouble phrasing that idea...hope I'm clear)

(my thought when reading the bit about the eyes rolling: when the eyes roll to the back of the head, can other people see the optical nerves?) Very happy

In my experience you can easily touch upon such mindstates with cannabis if you are open to this. I get this from time to time and it can indeed be very DMT-like. I interpret it just as some level of kundalini activation, but it is nothing of the same intensity as smoking DMT or changa, though it can in some aspects remind me of a dreamy shroom state or low dose oral dmt... Please don't get stoned to the point of hallucinating and then drive a car... And please don't post about it here, for obvious reasons.

Being really sensitive to it I always find it surprising how rare its acknowledged that cannabis can be very psychedelic in its own way at high doses, especially with little tolerance or your first few times. And for me sometimes it can be a bit similar to DMT, although usually only similar to lower amounts of it. I'm not sure why one would conclude that they had a DMT trip on cannabis without actually having tried DMT in the first place though...that doesn't make any sense to me. You can journey out of body through all sorts of techniques/plants/drugs but it doesn't mean that it will necessarily even be similar or identical to or caused by DMT.

On the other hand I actually found myself stuck in full on hyperspace after falling asleep while extremely stoned, about an hour after the first time I smoked a lot of cannabis and got effects. I don't know for sure if endogenous DMT or other tryptamines/beta-carbolines were involved though, and dreams are a whole other complex topic.

I won't lie, I wish I had the balance in my life to achieve any form of oobe. I've only had one that I can recall, and come to think of it, I've only had one lucid dream experience as well. I'd say you might be more ready than you think to try shrooms if you can recreate that set.
Love for all things first.

I would like to hear from the other members how or why they believe its impossible that OP had a DMT experience. I have read many accounts of people having "spontaneous mystical experiences" while stone cold sober and I don't see why endogenous DMT is out of the question for the reason behind this. In fact it would be more logical scientifically that a chemical was responsible for the said altered state. I mean cannabis does not typically produce THAT profound of a state, however I don't feel that it is out of the question. Im not saying the OP had a DMT experience or that it is even likely that he did. I would just like to hear why you guys believe that he didn't. I don't know everything that there is to know about DMT. Far from it but I don't have any reason to believe its impossible for DMT to be "accidentally" released, especially while altering normal brain chemistry with cannabis.

^ I don't think it's entirely out of the question... Just that it's odd he comes to such a conclusion without ever having tried DMT in the first place. How can he conclude that his experience was just like a DMT experience without knowing what DMT is like?

One interesting thing is that cannabis significantly increases melatonin levels... and pinoline, an endogenous MAOI, is a metabolite of melatonin. There are other beta carbolines in the brain too. I've noticed that in meditation (which also increases melatonin levels, and therefore pinoline) things often progress towards a harmala-esque experience, and then as it goes further a tryptamine element starts to come in, and it might even have a lot of similarities to DMT at times, ime. Perhaps cannabis can do something similar, as one part of its complex psychoactivity.

Thanks universe cannon, this is a very interesting response as I had no idea about melatonin activity as you describe.

Even more interestingly Id like to add, sometimes when I wake from a deep dream , my dream stops and I have fractal OEVs/CEVs. And they are very very vivid. Not quite as vivid as say peaking on LSD but about half that. They tend to have a more organic appearance - tryptamine ala psilocybin like but a bit different. More eyes (dmt?) and soft pinks and purples. The colors are very pastel. This fades after a few minutes being awake.

Also I cant handle melatonin. I get confused and have waking dissociative type experiences....similar to when I take Nyquil when Im sick. I don't enjoy these strange caught-in-limbo places.

Id like to add that Ive never used DMT even though I would like to someday but Im experienced in the classics LSD,mushrooms, and some mescaline for what its worth.
