Big grin At first I wasn't going to make this thread as this is the DMT nexus not the THC nexus Laughing but I have read a lot of cannabis growing related posts, so I thought, why not. One of my cats has extensive knowledge regarding the growing and cultivation of cannabis. If anyone is having issues, you can post them here and I'll try to help you Big grin

WOW hermit, you must have a lot of cats.Big grin

What you should get in to is growing your own herbs for making changa. You seem like you already have a green thumb, so get started on that mint & harmala garden already.

Laughing look at you sykosis, your a bonafied mind reader! Very happy I've been spending some time on share the seeds, thinking about making an account. I'm interested in growing some caapi, and some dmt containing plants, as well as some ethogens and cacti, but I'm still in the preliminary research, deciding if it's a good idea or not.

As to my cats, the first time I took acid I saw a tye-dyed kitty, and he told me he and his friends were hungry so I let them in my house. Now I practically have a herd of pan-dimensional kittens, each with their own interests. One likes extracting dmt, one likes taking it. One like growing plants and cacti, and new kittens come to me often, with new interests. I just go with it and post the findings on the interwebs.

who needs a book!? My cat learned every thing he knows from his daddy cat. who learned everything he knows from HIS daddy cat. Graphs are all fine and good, but its almost like my cat feels the plants as an extension of himself, and knows when they needs something. You can't learn that from a book Laughing

Any experience with high CBD low THC strains? I'd be interested in knowing more about best times to harvest and any things that can be done to try to spike the CBD levels as high as possible while keeping the THC as low as possible.

Wish I could help you as far a the CBD is concerned, But my cats main focus is High THC yeild. However I can give you advice on knowing when you plant is ready (I'm assuming that THC and CBD come to acclimation at the same time, I may be wrong.) My cat uses a eye loop, like the thing a jeweler would pull out to inspect a ring. Look at your trichomes and if they are milky/off white your good to go, however some specific strains take on cool appearances if you let it got + 1 week or so, but that's all up to personal preference. Also, my cat likes to wait until leaves start to yellow (with the G-13 strain especially) as the buds go into what my cat calls "secondary bud growth". After the trichomes reach maturity, the buds go into a secondary growth cycle, and get substantially larger and thicker, sometimes even crippling the plant Wink

Peace.

Funny, this was my question as well. I'm not a big fan of THC these days but CBD works wonders for my headaches. My local dispensary keeps a strain in stock now called cannatonic with upwards of 25% CBD and single digit THC levels. Great stuff.

I may be able to help you boys out I'm a long time grower, ask away.

I have found in my experience that before you harvest your plants, put them in pitch blackness for 72 straight hours with no water. This will increase CBD levels but also THC at the same time. But the strain you begin with with have a lot to do with the max potential, look for Haze & skunk crosses. Most ruderalis strains have been shown to have low THC but high CBD and are auto flowering so extremely easy to grow.

how does that work out?
it was my understanding cannabinoid levels were largely regulated by UVB light

Oh of course I use a 1000W MH light for Veg and a 1000 HPS for flowering. But what I mean is. Do your final flushing then place your plants in utter darkness for 3 days, this will get the max potential out of your plants. Increasing both CBD & THC levels.

It is also thought that by limiting the amount of water a plant gets you can positively effect its CBD levels. I'm working with this right now but as of yet don't really have much to conclude.

I've also found it beneficial when switching between veg and flowering light cycles to give your plants a 36 hour dark period. This will give them a strong urge to flower and keep flowering but is more to help yield which is a good thing too right. Any light leaks during the dark period of the flowering phase will have a negative impact on your plants.

Also for those with a scope. Harvesting your plants when 80% of the pistols have turned brown has been shown to be the optimal time for high CBD levels.

That stuff is great! That and Sour Tsunami. Have not found a Cannatonic quite 25% CBD in my area yet, but a few that were close. a1pha does your dispensary have any concentrates from the Cannatonic strain? I'm vaping mostly honey oils these days and have not found many high CBD ones. Always willing to make my own if need be and I can get a good deal on some bulk.

Thanks for the info Sykosis.

Peace.

I have had a ton of sprouts die on me in the last few months. My plan was to have about 5 plants ready to grow outdoors in the summer, but I am left with one plant in the ground now (which is looking like a male Mad ) and two in a cup, one of which looks like it's dying like the others. So, if I'm lucky, it's looking like one (possible) female, and one male. Still hoping that male turns hermi....

So why are my sprouts dying? I thought it was the cold when I first got going in the spring, but it's plenty warm now, and I have the same issue. I thought it may have been weak light, but the latest to die was in full sun for most of the day! I'm so frustrated. At least hopefully within 6 months weed will hopefully be in the store in my state, but I was really looking forward to my nice little patch. Now I'll be lucky to have two plants!

Is it possibly just bad genes, too? Is it too late to start new plants? I live a little ways north.

I know of a great dispensary! But to find it you need to have the right attitude...

Tell me more about your growing conditions...strain of cannabis, type of soil, amount of water, are you using nutes, checking Ph things like that. I'll try to help you where I can. If possible post pictures.

I live in Canada and you could still get a little grow going before seasons end here. How far north?

Well soon it will be fully legal in my state, without a medical card, but thanks! I have plenty for the moment.

There aren't really any pics to post. The sprouts grow maybe a few leaves past their first little roundies, and then fall over. The conditions have varied, from wet spring to warm summer. Right now the temps are consistently in the mid 70s to 80s F, so 25-35 C, I believe.

One of my guesses is that I am over watering. So, on the last ones I waited until they just began wilting to water.

I have just been using miracle grow moisture control, no other nutrients until they're bigger.

The strain is an unknown hybrid, I believe. Most likely a majority indica.

That's good the season is not over! I am a few hours drive south of Canada, so I'll give it another go. I have plenty of seeds!

I did read somewhere that a plant started a little later, and thus shorter at the time of flowering will produce bigger buds. Is this true in your experience?

Yes over watering is a common problem for newcomers and is not always watering too much, but can also be watering to often. you should NEVER water your cannabis daily.

If in pots water till 10-15% of the volume you pour in comes out the bottom. Then you should let the soil fully dry before watering again.

In in the ground water 1-1.5 liter for every 30-40cm of plant height. Then wait till the top 4-7cm of soil are bone dry before watering again.

I have over the years learned to watch the leaves of my plants to know when they need water. Pay close attention to them they will tell you a lot.

Cannabis likes well draining soil so if your soil is retaining water for too long add some perlite.

Quote:

Bad idea Miracle grow has way too much nitrogen and will burn your plants. Did they turn yellow and die?

Get something designed for tomatoes, about the best you can get at a general flower shop. Unless you can go to a hydroponics shop, then I'd get Advanced Nutrients MICRO GROW BLOOM kit. It's what I use.

Generally cannabis when left untrained will grow one large cola bud up the central stalk, but by trimming you can train a plant to bush out more.

Well thanks, man! I think that soil must be my issue. I'll give it another try with some new seeds, and maybe get lucky this summer.

What do you recommend for starter soil?

I make my own soil out of a mix of around 1/3 perlite 1/3 vermiculite 1/3 peat moss.
I like to use whats called a soil-less mix. They are preferred by me because they allow you control all the nutrients your plants get, as the mix contains none.

You can also use a soil-less mix then add your own organic nutrients like Ringworm casings, bat guano whatever you want but it's kind of a dirty process.

For a beginner I'd recommend Schultz brand Seed Starter Plus potting soil to start. Then once your plants are around 30cm tall transplant to Schultz brand African violet potting soil mix.

Schultz brand soils are available at your local Home Depot.

Most store bought potting soils will have enough nutrients for the first month of plant growth, you really shouldn't be adding nutrients till after. Another common mistake is over feeding, people see their plants dying and think "It needs more food."
But usually it is the opposite case, they have feed the plant too much or improper ratios of nutrients and the root systems is suffering from lock out. You need to flush the soil with around 2-3 times what you use for a normal watering to wash out this salt build up.

Also flushing the soil of high nitrogen grow fertilizers when switching to flowering is a must if you want the max potential out of your girls.

If you run it to any problems let me know I'd be glad to help.
