I'm sure other people here have used drugs in their dreams before, so share your thoughts. I have smoked weed in my dreams ever since I started smoking weed habitually, and never notice much of an effect. Recently though, I have tried MXE, some sort of opiate, and a giant mushroom in various dreams. The drugs never have much of a resemblance in effect or visual appearance (even with the weed that I come across) to their real life counterpart, although they drastically change the dreamscape.
The time I took mxe I was in a hotel room with a large glass window overlooking what I believe to be some sort of tropical version of Manhattan. When it started to kick in, I noticed that the patterns/lightshows/spaceships that are normally in the sky in dreams had been replaced with dark red clouds that poured out oily black rain. Everything in the city became red and black, except for my little hotel room. It was very depressing but also cool as hell to look back on the next day.
The time I ate a mushroom I cut it in half and ate one half and saved the rest for later, although I never ended up eating it. I believe I was at some sort of social function with my family, and though they knew I had eaten some of the mushroom they asked me to drive them home because they had been drinking. As we were driving home the dream became much more vivid, in the same way that reality seems to become more vivid on a low dose of mushrooms. Instead of a mindfuck though, things seemed to become more coherent and linear than dreams usually are.
What actually happens isn't really any more interesting than anything that normally happens in a dream, it just fascinates me that your brain can put drugs there to take and then come up with effects for them. I guess it doesn't seem that weird when you think about dreams in general, but I'd like to hear what other peoples' experiences are and what they think about the phenomenon.

Yeah all the time. I was smoking alien bongs in some bizarre shop two nights ago in dreamland ^___^ generally for me my dreams are usually extremely trippy without taking drugs in them. So when i do take them the affects are often blown way out of proportion..as if the environment had dosed along with me, since its as if its living/evolving organism in itself i've had mushrooms, sheets of lsd, dmt, salvia, aya, harmalas, wierd technicolor marijuana, aliens injecting me with blue liquids, horsebodied entities feeding me pills that make me trip/become lucid in the dream, all sorts of ridiculous stuff. i love dreaming one of the weird things about this thats always fascinated me is that i smoked dmt in a dream before actually trying it in real life, and it worked. iirc house said he actually smoked something that was just like changa in a dream about a year before anybody had even heard of it, lol

Oh God! I remember a dream I had earlier this year in which I was in some kind of art gallery and I had taken shrooms. They kicked in like a freight train while I was looking at a painting of a little mushroom house. Inside the cap of this mushroom was a cozy little lived-in room. The room interior had a very innocent, comfortable quality. Outside the mushroom was just a void of black. As the drugs kicked in things got intense - I'd say more intense and more trippy than most trips I've had. The void began to descend on the house, and the next thing, this little house was all I knew, I was somehow inside it while looking at it, and the void was no longer void - but some menacing gravity descending and pushing down on the walls. Next thing I know, chaos is reigning and my mind has exploded into blinding light.
I woke up with the sleep paralysis. Got up, had some water, thought to myself, "Holy shit. Dream shrooms are even crazier than actual shrooms."

"and recently when i smoked some changa in my real waking life i felt as if i had just woken up , infact i felt as if i was sleeping before smoking the changa" Ive had that to. i think its something thats quite common with psychedelics i remember the first few times i got stoned on cannabis that feeling of having always been asleep was extremely intense and mindblowing

..i once had a pipe appear in a dream, and i tool a toke, and was blasted into dmt-world, which i awoke out of with mild geometrics thinking..'far out! that was just like the real thing!"
..this has only happened once, and was about 3 years after the first time i had tried dmt..i hadn't been exploring much dmt at the time for a few weeks..
but, yeah somehow the brain can do anything! if we could only tell it how..

Smoked DMT a few times in a dream on purpose while lucid..worked a charm but couldn't really feel a "body load"
Weed has gotten me high..cocaine has made me tweak..your ideas allow you to experience close to the real thing in dreams me thinkz.

My dreams lately have been really weird. I have been having premonitions in my dreams about being really taken from my reality. My dreams can often make me wonder if I actually did a drug because the dream of it is so vivid and bright and sometimes even eerily resembling my reality of life. I have conversations in my dreams with people who exist in reality, I sometimes have a hard time remembering if they actually accrued. I often dream about doing drugs but often it is something I know nothing about but I get into some amazing and colorful dreams when I get really high before I sleep. When I don't get high for a period of a couple weeks or more I start having really strong dreams about doing drugs. I am not into uppers, I have tried but am not into that. I like herbal and natural plants. I have had good and bad experiences with hallucinogens, and prefer a glass of wine and a hit of THC over being totally whacked out. On special occasions I like to take a trip when the mood and time is right. I love that dreaming can bring me out of reality for just a bit "Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known." ~Carl Sagan

I've had a few dreams where I've taken acid but surprisingly can't remember having any about the other drugs - ecstasy would be nice! I usually receive it in blotter form and will 'trip' in my dream with enhanced psychedelic visuals/cool events/various aspects of the psychedelic trip. One time was flying through a forrest and the other at a festival with edible purple bubble lollies floating around that you could eat for more lsd.

I was recently stranded in a cabin in the arctic and used a box vaporizer with herb in it to connect directly to another persons consciousness as if it were a telephone or something. I remember inhaling from the whip and all of the sudden my vision went kaleidoscopic for a moment and tnext thing i know i was peering through someone elses eyes and communicating with them non verbally. Sort of a remote viewing type of experience. This was a dream of course Coinci-Transcendentalism

Ive consumed a variety of substances throughout my dreams. But I most frequently use ketamine and even more often, mxe in my dreams. The effects are rediculously similar including making it extremely difficult to move or speak.. The visual landscape even changes to the same cartoonish style. Learn. Manifest. Integrate. Grow.

When I first started getting very enthusiastic about psychedelics It was not uncommon for me to have dreams where I would eat acid/mushrooms. The visuals in the "dream trips" always bared an uncanny resemblance to the real deal.
I remember in one dream I somehow accidently injested a sheet of acid, mistaking it for a single hit (dreams are weird like that). After I realized what I'd done I started fearing for my sanity and then woke up haha.
Also when I quit smoking cigarettes I would often have dreams where I'd smoke a cig at a party or something. After taking a drag I would immediately regret it (since I was after all trying to quit). I would then wake up relieved that it I hadn't actually smoked.

Being part of a lucid dreaming talk forum for 7 years ..we did expiriment with taking drugs in dreams a AND IT WORKS !amazingly well.. I took acid in a couple of pre lucid dreams and i had a crazy time!@ I found myself ..[on top floor]..in a 50 story skyscraper tripping on acid I was in a triangle shaped room on the very top of building and the whole building would sway back and forth in the wind as i triped my mind out..it was crazy! Ive also been to some dream pot party too! The brain can recreate anythinng amazingly close to real! Ive been shot in dreams..[but it didnt hurt] Just a few mornings ago i became lucid in a late morning dream where in the dream I was in [a vast dream city].. driving a motorhome to a very high hill top..then up a ramp just below the highest skyscraper in the city... Something strange happened in the dream where a smaller vehicle [a jeep] fell of a high ramp and crashed through the roof of my larger motorhome.. [Not lucid yet].. still in the [non lucid dream] i was worried about my motorhome because it had a jeep inside it! How can i get it out??.. i thought in the dream!? I then walked up aramp just above the RV and looked down at my destroyed roof! When I looked down i noticed something strange! [My roof was still intact with the jeep inside! IT WAS THEN THE MAGIC HAPPENED!...my higher brain funtion kicked in and i became [crictcly aware in the dream! How can this jeep be inside my motorhome and the roof is still intact? This tacked awareness hit me and i then laughing climbed the tall skyscraper i was standing next to.. I went up the shear side of the building just like spidermam i climbed all the way to the top many stories up till i was next to a flagpole on the top of the building. [aware i was in a dream and nothing could hurt me! ].. I then climbed the flag pole and with a big smile let myself ..[free fall]..backwards slowly turning head over toe free falling faster and faster laughing all the way.. The first thing i hit below me was a series of freeway bridges [felt nothing ..then continued free falling through many buildings and other objects till I hit the ground below then continued falling through planet earth itself till i came out on the other side of the world then contilued falling into outer space and past many galexys on the way then woke up in bed ;laughing my head off! The feeling of free falling was awsomely real!in this lucid dream.. This is just one small example of whats posible in a dream especially a lucid one...

Many years ago I used to meditate a lot and practise lucid dreaming and astral projection, I kept a dream journal and I found the more energy I put into remembering my dreams and making them an important aspect of my life, the more vivid and detailed they got. Sometimes a single dream would be many pages in my journal even though these apparently took place during a single snooze period of my alarm, and would take far far longer to act out here in 'real time' One that comes to memory was a semi lucid dream in which I was aware that I was dreaming but could not really change the direction, even though I was making concious choices along the way. I hope that makes sense, anyway it went something like this.. I was at a big dance music festival like global gathering in the UK, it was amazingly vivid in the fact I could feel the sun on my back, the bass beat in my chest and all the sensations that went with being at such a place, although in a common random dream style (for me anyway) it was also in my old school playing field, surrounding the marquees were classroom huts, a playground that sort of thing. I remember leaving the main dance tent and outside it was the cloakroom from my school, I put on my rocket powered motorbike leathers,(not sure where they came from) they remind me of the suit from the Rocketeer minus the helmet! I then blasted off and would fly around the festival in the sun, landing from time to time to socialise with friends in the various arenas, have a dance and then blast off again! On one of these social occasions I landed on the roof of one of the old school huts where some of my friends were standing about chatting and sorting out some lines, one of them offered me a line of K, I of course hooted that up happily! Some minutes later I could really feel the K kicking in, warping my reality - but at the same time dulling down the vividness of the dream, so much so when I was offered another line later on I declined, I was lucid enough to realise that if I had another line it would dull down the vividness of this amazing dream even further and I really didn't want that! The thing that amuses me is that the only reason I turned it down was because I was enjoying this happy vivid, slightly off the wall dream and wanted to enjoy it as such. Had I not been so aware I was in dream time I no doubt would have indulged! This is definitely one of my favourite memorable dreams, I just cannot wait for those rocket leathers to be released A human being is a part of the whole, called by us Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest-a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty. ~ Albert Einstein

I did ecstasy in a dream once, to amazing (but not IRL-like) effect. I also thought I was stoned in a dream, and I seem to remember telling someone when I woke up that it seemed like I was (but not that the effect had carried over into waking life).
My emotions when I'm dreaming are susceptible to transcendence more straightforwardly than when I'm not, so in general I would expect that the emotional power of certain drugs could be replicated in dreams. I was very invested in the LOST series finale, too, and I had what I might as well call a psychosomatic roll while watching it the first time. That is, I was getting MDMA-like effects from watching a television show, and I only knew what MDMA really feels like *two days later* when I rolled in celebration of the fact that the LOST finale didn't disappoint me. (I'd taken ecstasy before, but it hadn't ever actually "worked": at best, I'd felt a very short, happy clarity while rolling, but not the all-out rapture the stuff is meant to invoke.)
I also know of authors, Dante Alighieri and Stephen R. Donaldson, who have written scenes in their stories that sound like signature DMT trips: Dante's Mystic Rose vision at the climax of the Paradiso (reminiscent of the "chrysanthemum") and SRD's "Elohim" characters and homeland in his book The One Tree (these creatures shapeshift in a weirdly lit dimension in ways that sound like the self-dribbling/transforming basketball/elves T. McKenna wrote about, and they're very keen on making "deals" with people). But Dante might've been a straight-lace Catholic and SRD claims to have never done psychedelic drugs. If they've had access to DMT hyperspace without doing DMT, then they either accessed it awake or asleep. Given the prominence in both individuals' lives of the value of dreaming... But either way, the thing is, if those two guys didn't trip on chemicals they took while awake, then either by sheer imagination while awake, or even sheerer imagination asleep, they tripped like they were on something. And if they did it awake, I doubt they couldn't do it asleep. So that's evidence, in my eyes, that it's possible to "break through" without doing drugs, and in dreams.
