i have a new Glass Vapor-Genie Sherlock, trying to find my correct way of smokinng it...
it works great with Pure Spice on a Copper mesh-ball..
But when i use canga, it happens pretty often, that the changa start ti burn kike in a normal pipe..

i tried several things now...
it seems its not getting hot enough vor vaporing, and suddenly the whole bowl starts to glowand te herbs burn down...

i used different versions of tirch lighter, and a normal BIC as well..
Suddenly it just starts burning, before vaoig process started,,,,

These are the Torchlighters i have, :

http://www.ebay.de/itm/S...a215b31ab#ht_2878wt_1154

http://www.ebay.de/itm/F...19d618bcd9#ht_500wt_1169

With the first one you could even change the Flame frim torch to normal...

but it happens more and more that the Changa starts to glow and get burnt.....

Any advice for me??

I've had changa combust in the GVG for me as well. I found changa doesn't really perform well in the GVG. IMO it's better to use the GVG for freebase xtal and put your changa in a pipe or a bong and smoke it the traditional way.

As a side note, freebase harmalas also seem to have a hard time vaporizing in the gvg (and for that matter in an electric vaporizer too) and are also best left to old fashioned combustion smoking methods, imo.

Same happened for me and my friend first try at it. But the combustion came when we used bic lighter. My friend succeded though.

Btw, is it the harmala blends that have a hard time to vaporize in the gvg?

It's definitely possible to get a good vape and experience with changa/ehanced leaf in the gvg with dedication and the right technique, but even then if you smoke the leftovers in a regular pipe you will see that you only got a fraction of the love that was in the mix. As always, this is only my personal experience and your mileage may vary, but I'm 100% convinced that changa/enhanced leaf (harmalas or no) are best combusted and the gvg is best for freebase.

I have yet to make the plunge of trying changa in my electric vaporizer but I suspect it will probably work quite a lot better than the gvg since you can control the temperature and find that sweet spot. Freebase harmalas put off a tiny bit of vapor right at 400-420 degrees fahrenheit then just cinge and turn black in the electric vaporizer, they do basically the same thing in the GVG. So I suspect right around 400 F is where you will want to vape a changa blend in an electric vape. I think this route definitely needs more looking into.

I tend to just leave my GVG for straight xtals, while my changa blends I save for a pipe, bubbler or bong. Smile

Thank you for sharing, indeed it seems its harder to get a perfect vape with enhanced leaf in the gvg. The torch seemed to be a choice for vaping with. It shut down though after one try. But I suspect as you say, there will be leftovers even after a good vape. Which is a bit disappointing. But I think I will have to work on the heating technique more.

The electric vape seems like a good way for sure.

The bong way seems like the best way for getting it all in though. Im a bit worried about the vapor might be to harsh(are they?)

I guess I'm the odd man out... I love my GVG for changa. At the end of a bowl, the chance for combustion seems to increase, but I love the taste of my changa blend as it comes through the GVG in pure, delicious, white vapor.

Slowing your breath increases temperature, whereas increasing the speed of your inhalation decreases the temperature. Also, the distance between the torch lighter and the bowl is key. I tend to start closer (with the flame about an inch or so above the bowl), then slowly raise the torch as the vapor begins to appear. I also move the flame around the bowl in a circular motion so the flame isn't pointed at any one point for very long.

It requires a fair amount of experimentation. You can generate vapor with a torch lighter even if the flame is 3 or more inches above the rim.

You may want to experiment with mj to get your technique down, since it is not anywhere near as resource intensive or precious (my opinion Smile).

Good luck!

find a comfy pipe for your changa sessions, one that will age with you, one that will feel like an old friend when you hold it in your hand.

Put the GVG away and forget about it.

Hard to do, when you have spent 200 dollars on it and tax Very happy But it does the job, the vapor is smooth and nice. But yeah, there is probably better ways as you say, harsher ways though for doing it 100% with changa. One can always smoke the gvg, then take the leftovers in a bong.

i use my GVG for enhanced leaf/changa and it works just fine.

i had a couple of combustion issues early on but with a bit of practice its now fine. i tried to smoke the left over in a bong and there was nothing left.

I strictly use changa in my GVG these days and I must admit I had the combustion problem in the early days too. There is definitely a learning curve with this.

Keeping in mind that less heat is essential here I combine both an up and down, circular technique with a warmup toke to get a one hit breakthrough AND avoid combustion.

I use at least 6 screens with changa on top.

My vaping technique uses a torch, . . . I light the torch as my lungs exhale, then I apply the torch directly but briefly to the ceramic plug, then right away I pull it away. I slowly descend with the fire as I begin a circular motion . . maintaining the circular motion, when the torch once again briefly touches the ceramic, I begin to slowly (circularly) pull it back again. All this time while slowly inhaling. When I see white vapor JUST fill the pipe I Stop.

Take a moment to take an extra breath if needed, but no matter what, exhale fully.

Now repeat above procedure and hit slow and easy. Remember, quick circles and up and down. Dance that flame around on the ceramic. Know how to get a woman off? Make love to it, don't f_ _ k it, Very happy .

GVG works great for Changa with me, I got it down first time so it can't be that hard Pleased . It does have to be 1:1 in my experience to get the most 'bang' out of it. Also never had a problem with vaping freebase harmalas in the GVG on their own or in Changa.

Just start off with the torch 1-2cm above the ceramic plug, move in circular motion and move the heat gradually further away from the bowl until you have filled your lungs. Bish bash bosh, easy peasy Thumbs up

I also find using conical gauzes like this make a huge difference as it keeps your dose directly below the heating element, rather than having some under the glass rim of it not getting heated properly:

Well, Pandora is a woman, so it's in her interests to have that knowledge Wink

I think something that people over look with the GVG is that it needs to be set up right to work properly, like the right kind of scrubber made into the right sized ball of the right density for freebase, or the right kind of gauze for herby material - I hate trying to bend gauzes into shape as they always seem to pop out of place at a crucial moment, like re-loading during a Changa-thon Twisted Evil.

These gauzes are the only thing I use for Weed or Changa, and have noticed much better results than with standard gauzes, although you can't fit quite as much in as you would with standard flat ones. Also you get 5 in a pack, but 1 will last forever since you aren't applying direct heat.

Hupecat -I get mine from my local head shop, but if you type 'basil bush conical gauze' into Google you should see a bunch of suppliers, everyonedoesit usually have them in stock Smile

So, you are only using one for the changa???

My self made coppermesh works like a charm for freeebase, thats's great.. its plugged into the small whole becoming little bigger when reaching the chamber..
But if i hear some peopople saying thy use up to 6 normaml meshes for changa, i would understand, but it takes a lot of room of the burning chamber...
But only 1 of the basil bush ones seems pretty coarse for me.. in my point of view a lot if the fine material would fall through the coarse mesh of it...
Do you leave the Coppermeshball i the GVG when smoking changa, or do you take it out then and only use the basil bush??
