So here's the painting I've been working on since the beginning of the year (most of this has been computer time... the actual painting took about 3 weeks). It's acrylic, 24x42".

This will be hanging in a group show called Second Skin at the Copro Nason Gallery in Santa Monica CA. Opening is July 14- any LA area Nexians, drop on by!

I am stumped in terms of giving it a title. Definitely think it should be simple, since the piece is a bit of a skull f#ck as it is without needing a fancy title. My wife is leaning toward "Patterns"... something along those lines. Any suggestions anyone?

Anyway, I am curious to hear if this space seems in any way familiar to any of you. Then I'll share the experience I had that inspired this.

And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not percieve the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, "brother let me remove the speck from your eye", when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye?-Yeshua ben Yoseph

Absolutely gorgeous work! I feel you, naming a painting is the hardest part. No seriously, I cannot stand it, it never seems right no matter what.

Fantastic. Your process is really interesting, using digital means to lay the groundwork for paint.

Awesome man, a ridiculously well rendered painting of the ineffable.
some ideas...

"Spiritual Elevator"

"Smoke"

"Out of and into"

"Going there"

In the province of the mind what one believes to be true, either is true or becomes true within certain limits. These limits are to be found experimentally and experientially. When so found these limits turn out to be further beliefs to be transcended. In the province of the mind there are no limits. However, in the province of the body there are definite limits not to be transcended.-J.C. Lilly

So excellent! Love your style.

I've been to a similar space, the main difference I see is that there are no openings on the sides of the "shaft"... I could see distinct openings on each level as I was lifted up past each one.

I'd name it "Transit" or "Telegraphs" Smile

You sure you've seen hyperspace before? Big grin

Great job man, really beautiful work.
โ€œThe most compelling insight of that day was that this awesome recall had been brought about by a fraction of a gram of a white solid, but that in no way whatsoever could it be argued that these memories had been contained within the white solid. Everything I had recognized came from the depths of my memory and my psyche. I understood that our entire universe is contained in the mind and the spirit. We may choose not to find access to it, we may even deny its existence, but it is indeed there inside us, and there are chemicals that can catalyze its availability.โ€

"Transit"... Not bad...

"UniverseCannon" is already taken...

Just kidding. I'm hoping for 1 or 2 syllables. Transit is a strong candidate.

Ah...holy wow!.

That is amazing. Yes I know that EXACTLY.

How the hell can I get a print of this? Are you gong to make prints?

We see a LOT of great art come across the nexus and it's all subjective for sure, but this really touched me. I've SEEN this!

Peace

Fantastic work. The colours chosen, and the 'flavour' of the imagery is something Ive encountered before, simultaneously. The weaving-together of the palls of smoke/haze reminds me of Jacobs Ladder.

Very nice, and knowingly observed!!! Very happy
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.
