I just woke up this morning from having a dream about doing dmt, its all I can think about even in my dreams. I had my first breakthrough with it a week and a half ago and EVERY SINGLE DAY since I have just been going around the nexus reading posts, reading about dmt. I have grown to love the smell like a coke addict loves the smell of coke (haha Very happy). I had an intense/weird experience last Saturday when I did it (Here) and I felt the strong need for a break from it. It's only been 4 days and I'm just staring at my pipe and my spice thinking about it. I feel like this is unhealthy, I should not be so obsessed with this drug to where all I'm doing is reading about it (and i have already read a TON about it years before I acquired it). Is it bad that I am not able to take my mind off it?

lol..chill out, its normal. I mean, when else in your entire life have you experienced anything like THAT?..if you dont find the implications profound and awe-inspiring and tend to think and think about it after, you probly did not break through.

Maybe take the time to do some other reading on related topics like brainstates and spiritual practices etc to help balance your perspective, or go learn about caapi or something for a while
Long live the unwoke.

Oh believe me, I found them completely profound and awe-inspiring. High doses of LSD and mushrooms have shown me hints of the DMT experience, and I thought I was obsessed with THEM. I have never been so blown away in my life.

It's a ridiculously powerful experience, and one that you're not likely to come by through any other means. I think a certain amount of obsession is natural - and as Fractal said, if you're not blown away, you haven't gone very deep. If you'd done coke a week ago, you might be equally obsessed; the difference is that you wouldn't be reading and pondering the implications - you'd just be focused on getting some more and doing it again. Only you can decide whether or not this is a healthy preoccupation, but the natural trajectory of DMT use often seems to be an initial wave of overwhelming fascination, followed by a broader perspective and less active use over time.

I dare you to try and maintain an abusive relationship with it for long. I'm as prone as anyone to addictive behavior, but spice has its own agenda. The DMT-Nexus, on the other hand, is more addictive than crack. I give it a week before you're reduced to snatching old ladies' handbags for a faster internet connection.

Oh f no...never...again.

Spice will show you very quickly why you don't here about spice addicts. IT WILL KICK YOUR ASS.... It just does that. A few massivly overwhelming experiences and you will be looking at your spice pipe with fear.

Things will calm down, no matter how much you use. I found spice many years ago...at first it was like, "oh my god, I'm starting a religion" and was obsessed with the experience for a while but this tapers down for almost everyone into respect and awe (without the obsession).

As Art noted you will find that spice will let you know when your abusing it and you will change your habits accordingly. Its a magical substance but never forget that it is in charge and you need to travel on its schedule.

Well, i know that when i had my first two break thrus in one day, a few years ago , i also couldn't stop thinking about it. I think it's natural to be astonished (floored still in shock) for days, weeks, ect. (i still am Wink ). It can def make one feel overwelmed with questions, images, intense feelings, and so on. And I'm not you so i can't tell what a good cut off point is to slow down, but i found that at first I was obsessed at an almost uncomfortable level for a SOLID 3 or 4 weeks.

I couldn't hear enough Terence McKenna, couldn't stop watching youtube, or reading articles. Thats just what i did. Before work, at lunch, when i got home, and between meals. This was not a healthy choice for me and i wished i would have paced myself more. . A couple friends got a little concerned and said something to me, so i put the breaks on a bit. I find now i still look into fringe topics on a daily basis to keep me on my toes, but the intensity of my sporadic research goes in sperts to keep from overgrinding my gears. Once your on a roll it will come more naturally to know when you need a break.

DMT is very powerful, as you are now well aware. It can be very persuasive. And its not exactly speaking english so be very careful how you interpret your journeys.

Other then that, good luck and travel safe Wink

hehehe.... spot on.

this isn't a chemical addiction you are experiencing. this is an 'addiction' (if you must use that term) to waking up. you just had a glimpse of something so vast, your mind simply cannot and never will be able to fathom it. and yet, you get to experience that vastness if only for a brief time. you get to leave the confines of your small, thinking brain. it's a gift beyond measure and a responsibility to contain such experiences.

you are worried because you can't stop thinking about it? get one thing straight, as it has been mentioned above, that is the NORMAL response to such a powerful experience. if you DIDN'T obsess on THAT, what the heck WOULD you obsess on??

just know, however, that it is the part of YOU that you just woke to that you are obsessed with. don't confuse it with the wonderful molecule that acted as liason for the meeting. give deep gratitude for it and love it and respect it....but if there is anything to adore or obsess over here, it is you. the you that you are now on a path to reconnecting with. your reaction is healthy, do not worry.

...and as Art so plainly stated, just TRY and have an unhealthy relationship with DMT...just TRY and abuse it and be disrespectful and thoughtless with it.... it will set you straight like you never knew you could be set straight. one of the many positives of the molecule- a built-in respect-o-meter. you gotta love it!

...no, really....you've GOT TO LOVE IT. Shocked

I think my daily use of it for a week kinda showed me that I cant keep smoking it all the time. That last trip I had was a total sign for me to take a break.

Daily use? You know, it's ok to chill out and integrate a bit. I hope you do not feel unwelcome in this reality, and I hope DMT helps you see the beauty of it. If that's the case, then why not stay here a bit and appreciate it? Your next launch will happen soon enough. I know that if my next one happens in a year, it'll feel just as familiar as if it was the 10th time in a day. No need to rush anything, hyperspace isn't going anywhere.

Your post resonates with me. I have a very obsessive personality, and when I find something I like, I usually put the pedal to the medal. What has helped me immensely with DMT, as well as psychedelics in general, is to turn to some manner of artistic endeavor between trips to space out (ha!) the experiences. I've found that if I'm piling up trips rather closely together, things can get a little messy up there between the ears. So now each trip is followed by a piece of art that attempts to convey something from that experience.

Just something to consider. Balance, as usual, is key.

SWIM has been very tempted to enter the DMT realm when he had his first batch of spice. He journeyed many times and very deep. After a while he stopped taking spice.
He now rarely takes it. The message that the Spice had given him was clearly not to overindulge in more and more knowledge, but to try and integrate the allready obtained knowledge and
manifest it in the Here and Now before comming back for more knowledge.

SWIM still has alot to interpret and intergrate into his lifestyle the lessons he learned.
It would only confuse him to absorb more, new knowledge, if he doesn't first understand and practicalise the basic lessons first.
SWIM finds that integrating the lessons learned in "hyperspace" into his lifestyle quite challenging.
As difficult as trying to remeber dreams can be, that's how hard SWIM finds memorising and understanding most lessons of the Spice journeys he took.

Just don't take too much weight on your shoulder, don't underestimate the "weight" of the knowledge you allready took onto your shoulders when you had all those spice journeys.
Take your time to "digest" and integrate the knowledge and put it to practical use in your Life, before you think of taking more weight on your shoulders.

Great advice here . Just remember its normal to obsess
In the beginning . I'm years into this and still contemplate
Its implications every single day .

I think its part if the path . It's something truly amazing

Terrence m . Says its our birthright to experience this .

He also makes a clear distinction between
Hyperspace ( psychedelic experience , transcending the other etc)

And thing s that are " cultural artifacts"

Wich dmt is not . It's a tangible force that's amazing ancient , new and shockingly
Real . How could you not be moved by such a thing as this ?

Ps built in respect o meter , I love it !

I also find that if you try and use spice too constantly, it can also just diminish in effect rather quickly over the course of a couple days to a week or two. Usually after taking a break, I'll come back to spice and have an awe-inspiring, beautiful experience. This will naturally want to make me try again the next day to see what experience is in store for me. Eventually the experiences become somewhat boring and mediocre and I realize it's time for a break again. I certainly experience a perceived tolerance over the course of a couple days. Also, if you're obsessing about it, maybe you should take the time to integrate the experience into your life in some way such as writing a poem, song, create a painting, etc...Even if you feel that such creations can only crudely represent the true experience, I feel they go a long way regardless.
