Hello Gents (and Ladies)

I am to prepare my changa, based on various researches I ended up with the certain approach, that may have few gaps still or require validation. Following, I would appreciate if you can look at the below and give your thoughts / corrections as needed.

I have the following ingredients that I intend to use to make Changa
- N,N-DMT freebase – 500mg
- Harmala HCL isolate 95% -100mg
- Banisteriopsis Caapi (red) resin extract paste 30:1 – 500mg
- Herbs (500mg):
o Peppermint,
o Passion Flower,
o Damiana,

A)
1. Pour out 20ml of isopropyl alcohol and place it in the glass #1
2. Add 100mg harmala freebase to glass #1
- going with harmala first as far as I know it takes longer to dissolve)
3. Add 500mg N,N-DMT freebase to the glass #1
4. Put the glass #1 in a jar with hot water to dissolve N,N-DMT fb and harmala fb
5. Remove the glass #1 from the jar when homogenous (liquid) consistency
6. Put the herb mixture into the bottom of glass #2
7. Pour DMT/Harmala-infused alcohol (from glass #1) to glass #2 until soaked
8. Place the content of glass #2 (infused herbs) on a plate
9. Let the herbs dry and collect – ready to smoke

B) Convert Harmala HCL isolate 95% to Freebase

I. Pour out X-ml water and place in the glass
• how many ml?
II. Saturate the water with Y-mg sodium carbonate
• how many mg?
III. Add 100mg Harmala HCL isolate 95% to the glass
IV. Wait till it precipitate harmalas and use for section A)

- In one of the threads I saw it was recommended to filter the liquid (remove exceed sodium carb) to prevent undissolved base to be mixed with the harmalas, but I did not catch how to do that and whether it is needed?

AD. A)
-How to dissolve B. Caapi (red) resin extract 30:1 paste in the liquid and what step/s?
o I made the assumption that extract would have ~30% harmine / thh alkaloids (if standard is ~1%), but do not have confirmed details from the source
o Following the above, I consider to use 500mg of B.Caapi extract expecting it to have ~150mg to harmine / thh alkaloids (what is expected to give ~250mg in total along with harmalas hcl/fb)

Please be so kind and give me your advise.
Thanks

So is it the harmala hcl OR the b. caapi paste, or both? If it's just one of them, it might be a little light in harmalas, which is no problem but you potentially will not feel much of the harmalas.

I'm not sure what exactly the 30:1 caapi extract really means, how exactly it was prepared, the original amount of harmalas in plant material, etc, so it's a bit of a gamble there. You could potentially dissolve that extract in water (or slightly acidified water if it doesnt dissolve in case it is a freebase extract) and then add sodium carbonate to precipitate the alkaloids, and then you'll have a more accurate dosing.

If you don't want to do that, you mention 30%... If that was the case, then from 500mg you'll have around 150mg harmalas. If you're doing these (supposedly) 150mg caapi extract + 100mg harmalas hcl (which when converting will be a little bit less), that's around a 0.5:1 ratio of harmalas : dmt.. IMO that's a good ratio. Some people go up to 1:1 ratio of DMT harmalas, for me it's too much. What I do think though, is that if you don't pre-extract from the caapi extract, you're gonna have too much material in general, because it is only 30% alkaloids, the other 70% will be adding bulk weight to your changa and might make it too light on DMT. Me personally when I was making changa I preffered to have a ratio of 1:1 DMT:everything else, otherwise I felt it was too weak changa... But if it's 1:1.5 (considering harmalas with your herbs) thats ok, but if its 1:2 DMT:everything else (if you're adding bulk caapi extract weight), then it might be too light on DMT, you can raise that DMT ratio a bit.

Another thing that calls my attention is the fact that you're using Isopropyl to try and dissolve harmalas, but they are poorly soluble in that solvent. They are somewhat more soluble in ethanol, if you can get that (non-denatured alcohol), maybe it's a better idea. Otherwise it's ok to do with IPA, what may happen is that some might stay undissolved, what you can do is just mix that undissolved part manually in the whole changa, it wont be perfect homogeneous but you can get it well enough.

As for when to dissolve the caapi extract, personally i'd pre-extract it before, and then add it together with the other harmala at the first stage when you mix it with IPA (or better ethanol).. Otherwise, if it's not in freebase form, it might not dissolve well at all in your solvent, so you could just mix it manually with the whole thing when you add your IPA to your herbs.

Either way you seem to have a pretty good idea of what you're doing. What I could suggest to you is that you make 2 batches of changa, and change any variable you are not sure of (more or less DMT, more or less harmalas, different herb mixture, whatever), just so you can try both and see what you personally prefer . It's always good to do experiments like this so you can find for yourself what your preferences are.

Good luck!

Thanks endlessness for your comprehensive and prof response 😊
So, yes I am going to use both Harmala HCL and B.Caapi 30:1 resin extract.
Following your advices, I have modified my receipt – see below.

BASIC INGEDIENTS:
- N,N-DMT freebase – 500mg
- Harmala HCL isolate 95% -100mg
- Banisteriopsis Caapi (red) resin extract paste 30:1 – 500mg
- Herbs:
o Peppermint,
o Passion Flower,
o Damiana,
o +Lavender (once ready)

- Chemicals:
o Water
o Vinegar
o Sodium carbonate

A) Convert Harmala HCL isolate 95% to Freebase
I. Pour out X-ml of water and place in the glass
• how many ml?
II. Saturate the water with Y-mg sodium carbonate
• how many mg?
III. Add 100mg Harmala HCL isolate 95% to the glass with the liquid
IV. Wait till it precipitate harmalas and use for section C)
• any shaking or warming is needed?

B) Precipitate alkaloids from B.Caapi 30:1 extract
a) Pour out X-ml of water and place in the glass
• how many ml?
b) Warm the glass up to be hot, but not boiling
c) Add 500mg B.Caapi 30:1 extract to the glass with the liquid
d) Add Y-ml of vinegar to the glass to acidify a water (only if does not dissolve properly)
e) Saturate the water with Z-mg sodium carbonate
• how many mg?
f) Wait till it precipitate alkaloids (expected 150mg) and use for section C)
• any shaking or warming is needed?

C) Make Changa
1. Pour out 20ml of ethanol and place it in the glass #1
2. Add 150mg alkaloids from B.Caapi 30:1 extract (from point B) to glass #1
3. Add 100mg harmala freebase (from point A) to glass #1
4. Add 500mg N,N-DMT freebase to the glass #1

Would you (/anybody) advise in terms of the questions raised above (especially amounts ml/mg or how to best handle) and validate now overall?

Also, in reference to the sentence: - In one of the threads I saw it was recommended to filter the liquid (remove exceed sodium carb) to prevent undissolved base to be mixed with the harmalas, but I did not catch how to do that and whether it is needed? – endlessness, it seems that was your advise again 😊 – so could you please elaborate? thread https://www.dmt-nexus.me...spx?g=posts&t=47160

Thanks again

as for how many ml water when dissolving harmalas, dont worry too much about it, measurements are very forgiving in this sort of extraction.. Say you can make 100ml, just to give you a number... I also suggest not adding the sodium carbonate directly to the dissolved-harmalas solution. Instead, first make a solution with sodium carbonate (say 50-100ml).. Just add a bunch of sodium carbonate, like a spoonful or so, and if some stays undissolved after mixing well, let it stand for a bit and decant the clear water away from the undissolved sodium carb (or filter it through a coffee filter, which is what I meant in the last question you asked).

Then you add that sodium carb solution to your dissolved harmala solution. That way you make sure you don't have excess sodium carbonate together with your precipitated harmalas. As soon as the first drops of sodium carb get in contact with the harmala solution, you will start seeing color change, cloudying, which is a good sign the harmalas are precipitating. So you keep adding the sodium carb solution slowly until it is all clouded up and adding more wont change the color further. That's when you stop adding.

No need to heat that or anything, no need to shake it either, just let it stand for some minutes/couple of hours for the whole thing to precipitate. After it all settled, you can try adding a bit more of the sodium carb solution to see if it changes color, if so, add some more, if not, you can decant/filter to retrieve your precipitated harmalas.

OK, thanks a lot - so I have adjusted in the following way:

A) Convert Harmala HCL isolate 95% to Freebase

Sodium carb solution:
I. Pour out 100ml of water and place in the glass #1
II. Add a spoonful of sodium carbonate to the water in glass, mix and leave for some time
III. Filter the content through a coffee filter (if some stays undissolved)
IV. Put back to the glass #1 – have sodium carb solution

Dissolved harmala solution
V. Pour out 20ml of ethanol in the glass #2
VI. Add 100mg Harmala HCL isolate 95% to the glass 2#

End mix
VII. Mix both together
VIII. Wait till it precipitate harmalas
IX. Filter through coffee filter

but not I am sure if capture it properly e.g.

"Then you add that sodium carb solution to your dissolved harmala solution" - by dissolved harmala solution do you mean adding Harmala HCL to ethanol, so points V and VI shall looks like:

Dissolved harmala solution
V. Pour out 20ml of ethanol in the glass
VI. Add 100mg Harmala HCL isolate 95% to the glass

and then

End mix
VII. Mix both together (Sodium carb solution with dissolved [HCL] harmala solution)
VIII. Wait till it precipitate harmalas
IX. Filter through coffee filter

correct understanding?
