SWIM recently recrystallized ~2.3 grams of an opaque yellow powder and turned that into ~1.9 grams of primarily dark yellow crystals. There are some white and translucent crystals, but the overall appearance is yellow. SWIM knew there would be some loss in weight from removing the impurities, but nearly 20%?

Is this a normal loss %? How many more times would SWIM have to recrystallize his spice to get pure DMT?

SWIM is really enjoying his yellow crystals. He has broken through every time, with pleasant euphoric trips.

yeah sounds like a normal loss..... the strange thing that I didnt understand is that it turned from opaque yellow to dark yellow ?!

well anyways, you dont HAVE to clean up anything, do only what you want.. if you are happy with the yellow stuff then by all means keep them as such.. Recrystalization is wonderful process, just for the sake of it, like an alchemical art of some sort.. Its nice at least once in life to do it to the extreme and get it super super pure translucent/white crystals, but in terms of practicality and actually need, its not really needed...

Thanks for the input. SWIM is happy to know that he didnt screw up the recrystallization. The change in color is what confused SWIM. He was expecting cream or white crystals. He certainly didnt expect the crystals to take on a darker color than the powder. However, he is happy and doesnt plan on doing another recrystallization.

One of the nicer things about going for pure crystals is that you can vaporize everything, without leaving any residue. Smile

If you lose stuff, you can try to evaporate off the solvent, to see if you can recover the lost mass from there..
Theoretically speaking of course.
