The title of the article is a little misleading, but a step in the right direction nevertheless. Fingers crossed!!

Today is the day! Thumbs up

Thanks Denver for being at the forefront of sane, common sense drug policy. Cool

Well 301 failed, but holy cow, for a first time legalization attempt 45% yes is pretty damn good. I don't know folks there, i wonder if that represents the actual feeling of voters or a huge effort to get voters to polls. Prolly the former.

I will with somewhat heavy heart vote down the blindly supported and horrible Portland bill later (only allows rich, mostly white people to access mushrooms legally and expensively), but would've voted yes in Denver.

45% is indeed a good start. What are the details of the Portland bill that limit it?

I for one am very dissapointed. With the science and information that is out there this should have passed in my opponion.

The people decided to continue to label those who personally choose to grow mushrooms for themselves as criminals (sale for profit would have remained criminalized, this was a referendum on personal use).

This means that the people are OK with the police using precious resources to send good people like us to jail if need be, with all the harm and suffering that may cause us.

Inexcusable and reprehensible attitude in my opponion.

Sorry, but I'm very dissapointed today with the outcome of the vote and the message the people sent to people in our community. In a lot of their eyes, we are criminals for growing nature, not allowed to be free to personally explore what we are interested in, and not sovereign over our own bodies, consciousness, and spirituality.

Tomorrow will be another day. I look forward for future progress. Truth and reality cannot be stopped, I hope.

I agree with you Loveall. It is sad to see that the majority wishes to continue to criminalize the minority of citizens who choose to explore consciousness through mushrooms or other psychedelics. I believe that it is partially a generational issue. People in their 70's and older vote in huge numbers, and many are so deeply entrenched in their hostility toward psychedelics that it creates a huge obstacle for the time being. Social conservatives also are very opposed to anything that smells of rebellion against the ways of God.

What bothers me the most is that, at its core, this is an issue liberty. It is a matter of having the right to exercise one's personal sovereignty. This aspect of the debate is completely lost on so many. It is not a good thing when a majority of voting citizens see nothing wrong with criminalizing personal liberty.

Holy cow, after intially posted as failing on election night, the final tally made it pass!!!

This was posted one hour ago:

The Denver Post wrote:
After trailing in results postings Tuesday night and early Wednesday, final unofficial results just posted showed a reversal of fortune — with Initiative 301 set to pass narrowly with 50.6 percent of the vote. The total stands at 89,320 votes in favor and 87,341 against, a margin of 1,979.

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."

Amazing news!! I can't quite believe it! It seems that the media indirectly played a role in orchestrating this, by covering it and saying the vote had failed, it seemed to spur a last minute surge in 'for' votes. That's my work's social media morning post sorted anyway! The times they are a changin'... Thumbs up

Not to be a negative nancy or anything, but i truly hope that this doesn't go the route of the cancerous capitalistic cannabis consumerism that has spawned from big grow businesses trying to make criminal amounts of money, as fast as possible.

The mushrooms should be decriminalised, and left at that. Therapies can administer mushrooms, growers can grow them, but it should still be illegal to sell. Mushrooms can be recreational, but they aren't a recreational substance.

***ring***ring

Officer: Denver Police Department

Neurotic citizen: Hello, I'd like to report my neighbor

Officer: Please go ahead mam'

Neurotic citizen: I've always been suspicious of him. He always seem odd and off to me.

Officer: Have you observed him harming property or people?

Neurotic citizen: Well no. But he is offensive. He tells me I should not eat all this sugar and processed food. That they are not good for me. He said I may be addicted to these engineered foods and that they stimulate the same brain areas as cocaine! Something about science and brain scans. Can you believe that wierdo!?

Officer: Mam' have their been any crimes?

Neurotic citizen: Then he told me to that it may be a good idea to spend time in nature and with my kids. He quoted some other science stuff. Thankfully the internet has proven that science is just a HOAX!

Officer: He does seem weird mam', but you need to report a crime for us to look into him.

Neurotic citizen: OK, so the other day he invited us over for some vegetarian home made meal. I was like, where's the MEAT? What a bad host, right? Anyway while he was showing the other neighbors his veggie garden and medicinal plants, I snuck into his room to see what this weirdo is up to. You, know investigating the weirdos like any God fearing red blooded American would do!

Officer: You have permission for that?

Neurotic citizen: Hold on. So in this closet, I found mushrooms. I'm pretty sure they are magic or something like that. He's probably using to dope himself or something. Must be a reason he is so fit, successful, and always seems so calm and loving. Something about neuroplasticity thingymagig. Weirdo I tell you!

Officer: Well, in the past we could have sent in a swat team in the middle of the night with flash grenades and risk of having shots fired.

Neurotic citizen: Yes! Do that! I love death and destruction. If he survives your invasion make sure you send him to prison for many years. Sweet!

Officer: Well, we don't do that anymore. After ordinance 301 we need to use police resources towards crimes like rape, assault, robbery, etc. We've actually started to catch up with old rape kits now and make progress.

Neurotic citizen: Those damm hippies and their votes! They should all be rounded up and shot!

Officer: Please don't do that mam'

Neurotic citizen: Don't worry abut me. I'm a good citizen, but something must be done. I've got to go and take by depression and high blood pressure and cholesterol pills. At least I got my bacon and bacon sandwich, boos, and violent shows and porn to look forward to.

Officer: OK, have a good day

Neurotic citizen: God bless you and damm all those hippies! I'm so full of hate and rage right now, I need my drinks and pills.

It only took a 5% shift to restore your faith in humanity.

55% people are fascists -> humanity is a cesspit
Only just under 50% people are fascists -> there is hope Laughing
