Does anyone know if vaporizing opium and/or dried poppy pod material is a viable route of administration at all?

I once smoked some semi-dried, home harvested opium poppy heads with a torch lighter, and it definitely worked this one time...it produced this beautiful, exotic tasting smoke and I was enveloped in this warm tingling body high and euphoria...it was nice for sure, but opiates aren't really my thing...I like trying things though.

psychosisdoses, I didn't mean just smoking opium. I mean vaporizing it in a vaporizer.

I did a little more reading and found that vaporizing, as opposed to smoking, is the traditional way of inhaling opium.

I found just a small bit of info about vaporizing the actual dried poppy pod material and it seems pretty favorable as a route of inhalation.
