I agree with North since the first bark was poor, or possibly not even from the right tree. Lye is very cheap, so no reason to take short cuts. You could reuse your solvents if you desire. Activated carbon really clean them up great.
However, I admit that I've occasionally reused lye solutions when I'm low on lye. I only do A/B extractions though, so it's basically (pun intended) just adding reduced dmt acetate to existing liquid extractions that already have the bark/powder removed.
You just have to remember that working with lye is always a bit of a risk. Don't try to fish bark out, or play with it more than the procedures call for. Mistakes happen, jars get knocked over, crack, etc. It happened to me tonight, but it only had cold heptane and some DMT in it. (I'm hoping that because the heptane was cold, I didn't lose too much DMT)
