After some random research I found out that the solvent known in dutch as "wasbenzine" is in general just Heptane (C7H16). it COULD be any molecule with 5 to 7 carbon-atoms. But mostly it's just C7H16.

I've used wasbenzine from the companies "Het Kruidvat" and "C1000" before as solvent for DMT extraction and it worked just fine. Wasbenzine is less damaging for the evironment compared to White Spirit (aka Terpentine, aka Naphta).

Hope this will help you all.

Yeah SWIM used the Wasbezine aswell, and it worked also fine for him. The only thing I found, that it stil smells the hell out of SWIM's kitchen, what doesn't really pleases the girlfriend. So he got him self the rubbercement/fotolijm verdunner, witch is a bit more expensive and harder to come by. He uses this now for every part of the process. If you whant to evaporate some of this stuff its gone in a view minutes, and doesn't leave any nasty smells. This is where you have to be a bit carefull to make sure your kitchen is well ventilated because of obvious reasons.Wink I'm sure this stuff is pure Hepthane, but it smells very different than this Wasbenzine, so are you sure traveler, that this is not contaminated with nasty stuff???
So if there is anyone that whant's to get the pure Heptane, I know two shops in A'dam that sell it. So PM. me, if you want to know where.
Wink

This is what he usesSmile

He guys,

the TAO is pretty fond of wasbenzine as well, it is really cheap and
it works like a charm with good yields as 1.7%

I know this is an old topic, but I did use turpentine and this morning it was (or should be) ready. But I pretty much just smoked turpentine instead of DMT.. although several people that are familiar with dmt said it looked good. guess it wasnt..

so my question is.. is it the turpentine?
I was planning on getting "wasbenzine" for the next round (I'm from the netherlands) but still I would like to know..

50gr mimosa
50gr lye
30gr turpentine
300ml warm water

Hi,

turpentine (dutch: Terpentijn) as original coming from trees has been widely replaced with white spirit (dutch: Terpentine) coming from crude oil. The terpentine we find in DIY stores is usually a renamed white spirit.

White spirits (terpentine) contain some heavier molecules that evaporate more difficult (final boiling point at around 200 deg C) and also there is a larger chance of having cyclic molecules (aromatics) in the mix.

Wasbenzines are generally more volatile than a white spirit (final boiling point around 140 deg C) and the potential amount of aromatics is usually lower than in terpentine, we don't want aromatics (it obstructs the freeze precipitation).

So wasbenzine will evaporate more easily out of your spice than terpentine (white spirit) with a fair amount of difference.

Hope that helps,
happy trials.

yeah, its called white spirit what I have now. So I can pretty much throw away this first batch then, not gonna be any better anyways.

I thought it also looked weird: https://wetransfer.com/d...4bc20190310083008/9e3e4a

Anyway, will get wasbenzine and thank you for your reply Thumbs up

Well, i think if your getting solvents from the store, just dont expect it to be "pure", i think bestine, wasbenzine and other brands claim its pure heptane but are probably mixes of different isomers of heptane, it should work but its probabbly not pure heptane.

I would never use something that isnt lab grade.

Edit: Take Jees tips, and don't use mineral spirit again, next time pay attention and read before you start anything.

White spirit will pull just fine, and freeze precip well too if it's largely free from aromatics. It's just prudent to recrystallise using something that definitely evaporates cleanly if you've extracted with a heavy solvent.

β€œThere is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."
