Reishi mushroom is the Chinese "Herb of Immortality"

Proven effects:

Anti cancer/ anti tumor
Immune system modulating / strengthening
Liver supporting
Dilates blood vessels / cardiovascular support

Subjective effects, as noticed by me:

Supports positive mood
Provides energetic protection from negativity from others
Preventative against panic attacks
Holds back a cold
Steady, wakeful energy
Spirit like a dragon or faithful dog
Tea smells like wet golden retriever
Improves quality of psychedelic trips

Feeling lazy right now, I may add some ncbi studies later, but there are literally hundreds.

Reishi is good stuff! For some reason I've never found it in the woods but I was lucky enough to have find it growing all over my garden and yard. I was sad to see my favorite tree as a child get chopped down, but to my surprise reishi started thriving off of its still buried roots.

Ah, yes. Ganoderma fungi. Thumbs up They grow wild around here for easy harvesting and I still got a couple of these jewels left over. Highly recommended as an incredible ally, tonic-medicine and adaptogen.

Be well. Pleased

Cog, those are very dark mushrooms. If they are indeed Ganoderma, perhaps they may be the famed rare "Purple Reishi," which makes one into a dragon

Both are year-long dried specimens. They are ganoderma tsugae(hemlock varnish shelf) which is produced on dying hemlock or other conifers.

Ganoderma medicine man. Cool

I've heard about companies which are selling Coffee mixed with ganoderma.

Isn't this a bit of silly since caffeine is a blood-vessel restrictor while ganoderma dilatates? I mean, it shouldn't be a harmuful combination but just... a bit pointless, you know.

Pointless? Reishi isn't just a vessel dilator- it has maaaaaaaaany other effects.

And perhaps it was added partly to offset the vessel constriction by the caffeine.

Interesting mixture, yes, pointless? Not necessarily. Caffeine breaks down into a few other xanthines like theobromine which is a vasodilator. Lasting longer after the effects of caffeine have subdued, and possibly improving the vitality experienced with Ganoderma and its medicinal effects.

Ok, it seems I've been too impulsive in my evaluation.

Thanks for your answers Pleased

Every mushroom product should be extracted, as fungi have something called chitin in their cell walls. Chitin cannot be broken down by humans, since we lack the chitinase enzyme. So it needs to be broken down ahead of time to make the beneficial compounds bioavailable for humans. If you just eat raw mushrooms, you are not going to get the beneficial compounds.

^^ ive read this not long ago, so we should use extracts? does this mean if i eat mushrooms in my everyday life i don't get the health benefits even of such as oyster mushrooms? looks like cooking it does the trick also, still strange since i love eating fresh mushrooms
A second chance? Huh... I thought I was on my fifth.

Sounds like some boooooooooolsheet to me! You can eat raw mushies and get the effects from them. Maybe processing them somehow releases more goods like with any natural product. But ain't nothin' wrong with chitin.

I like to add, that ganoderma applanatum is very common in northern europe. It is not as powerfull as reishi, but very easy to find.
I haven't tried it yet, but i see it growing on trees all the time.

A sedative for you.

This herb is an adaptogen. For me, it functions as a slight stimulant.

It's sedative properties are fairly well known.
Check out: Extract of Ganoderma lucidum potentiates pentobarbital-induced sleep via a GABAergic mechanism.
Qing-Ping Chu, Li-En Wang, +4 authors Yong-He Zhang
Published in Pharmacology, biochemistry, and behavior 2007
I've also included a study showing it is a sedative in mice.
Many authors have written about such effects.

Mushrooms contain the chitinase enzyme as well as chitin.

For instance amanita muscaria contains CHIT1 (endochitinase) https://www.uniprot.org/uniprot/Q9C199
