Just wanted to make myself a heated magnetic stirrer.
Looked at Chinese 79-1 stirrer, but waiting is too long and my hands were itching.
Had a bunch of junk lying around so I used it to build one. ALuminum plate 8.5 x 7 x 1/4 in.
A bunch of 10 Ohm 25Watt power resistor in series, total wattage 127Watt, uses 1 amp, connected directly to mains.
Old laptop charger 19V (real output 16.7V) for the dc brushed motor. A $5 pwm speed controller 3A 24V max, neodymium magnet, some wiring. There was a pulley on the motor, cut 3/4 of it and it left a base, ca glued the magnet on it.
Gives me about 160F / 75C in the solution, while the hot plate maxes out at 275F / 135C. No heat controls atm, imho the max temp is acceptable for the task.
Old regulator housing.
