Hello guys,

i noticed, that the structural formula of N,N-Dimethyltryptamine is different on english and german wikipedia.

German wiki

vs

English Wiki

So dumb questions:
1. Which structur is (more) correct? And why?
2. Why are they different? As substance and the formula (C12H16N2) is the same.

Greetings

They are both the same.

The structure without the -CH3s is just using short hand notation, unlabeled atoms in the backbone are always CH3, CH2, CH or C

The structure with different double bonds in the ring, this doesn't matter because the double bonds are to signify a certain resonance structure. So both are correct.
