If ayahuasca is kept at room temperature for 3-6 months then 3 years in the refrigerator, should it be thrown away?
Same question for pure DMT?

I dont know but i would 100% never drink or eat something that been sitting at room temp for 3-6 months and then 3 years in fridge, would you? Most foods/drinks have to be consumed from 1 to 7 days (depends on the food) after cooking. For extracted DMT freebase/salt i would say there is no problem check this out https://www.dmt-nexus.me...spx?g=posts&t=11715 Good Luck

I once had a bottle of ayahuasca outdoors in a tropical climate for almost a year 70-85F. No visible growth of any kind. A release of gas and bubbles. Smelled sweet. Turned out to be an amazing experience. The experience was subjectively different to me for sure. Bacteria effecting the gut? Fermentation? idk.

I have a bottle of ayahuasca that was brewed by a very famous advocate of the psychedelic experience back in the '90s. While I won't drink large amounts out of that bottle because of the value I place on it I do add a few drops to other brews or take a taste while on say an acid or San Pedro trip. The taste has never changed over these many years and a TLC/reagent test a few years ago showed it still has the goodies. Has never grown any mold or degraded in any way I can detect. When brewed properly ayahuasca seems to be remarkably stable. I already asked Alice.

Before consuming, check for any mold or similar signs of degradation. There has been one research into aya kept in room temp for a few months and there was no change in alkaloid content or similar, the only thing that happens is it starts fermenting and changes pH https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/16149328/
Me personally ive seen aya go mouldy after some months and wouldnt drink it if it had mold but if it seemed fine with no apparent degradation, id prob drink it.. If i had the choice though id always freeze it for long term storage Pure extracted alkaloids like dmt etc will last practically forever. Dmt shows some oxidation visually but it is still perfectly active even after years

The ayahuasca I got that gave me my very first experience with it had been sitting in a freezer for multiple years if my friend was correct and it was an amazing experience no signs of going bad.

I did once have a jar of ayahuasca go bad that was never left at room temperature, just the fridge, and for a lot less than a year... just a few months... it was rotten. Mould. Best bet is to chuck it. Pure DMT (HCL) on the other hand... as long as it's stored properly, I've had it last for 5+ years without seeming to lose potency.

Freezer storage is different game, i dont recommend you drink it, i really dont. I understand why you would want to drink it but i personally wont do it. Touch the insides of the bottle are they slimy is there any bad smell to it? What if it has Botulinum toxin (no taste or smell, high temp resistance) or something else that can potenitially kill you? Idea: why dont you just extract all the alks from the aya via STB? Use a foodsafe base to basify then use foodsafe NPS to pull and then with acidic water in a pot heat the NPS with the acidic water so the nps relasee the aya alks from the NPS into the acidic water and then drink the acidic/alk/aya water (dont use strong acid, vit c lemon juice whatever). Thoughts?

This ^^^ But, the procedure for harmala extraction is a little more simple than a DMT extraction. So, I would say try to filter as much as possible, then use sodium carbonate to bring the mix to a pH of 9.5 or so.... allow sufficient time for the harmalas to precipitate (the refridgerator helps too), filter them, then continue on with the DMT extraction as it were an STB. Depending on plant fats, you may have to do a secondary A/B clean up. But, it shouldn't bee too bad. I have no experience with preserved brews, but I usually err on the side of caution. An extraction would reduce potential negative consequences of toxic microbial growth. Take Care, ACY Sometimes it's good for a change. Other times it isn't.
