Do you feel it yet?
A guide how not to make and smoke DMT.

I am writing this post for a laugh. I hope you find it as amusing as I did in retrospect. This is the first time I have ever attempted to do anything like this and have NO previously knowledge or experience. I do however have a deep passionate drive to explore my psyche and will eventually, I hope.

So, I live in the New and work in advertising. The materialistic, hypnotic and shallow views of my industry over the years have me feeling soulless. I flipped through a few “faiths” until I found one that really felt right witch happened to be Hermetics, this led me to being interested in Esoteric Text, Ritual and Doctrine (Éliphas Lévi to Peter J Carroll) and OBE experiences. (Robert Monroe) Naturally DMT would definitely fit into this picture. I decided on Xmas vaca I would go to the country, make it with a few other lifetime like-minded buddies and take turns in a safe environment exploring parts of ourselves we had never imagined on NYE. We all hopped flights to the country set to take a journey of a lifetime. We just didn’t consider how much of idiots we were, this event could truly be the DMT blooper reel.

Enjoy.

You know I had been on the Nexus a ton of times looking at TEK but felt intimidated by the process. If you have never done a TEK and there is no one around to help you it seems kind of scary at least to me and then I found this…

https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5zh7q7

When I saw this guy do it I began to feel confident like I could do it also. It was a step by step guide, what could go wrong no? I grab a little powder and we make the plan to meet.

We get to the location so first step is to build the lab. We get most of what we need but we are missing a 2-liter jar with a lid and can not find sodium hydroxide. We stop by the local Lowes and find Roebic Crystal Drain Cleaner. It said 100% Sodium Hydroxide and we found a blog saying it’s basically the same thing so that’s good enough for us. Then it’s off to the local Walmart to find a mixing vessel. We fine 1.5-liter vases, it was all they had. Ok whatever, we get them. That night we are off to make personal history.

We follow the video step by step. After reading a lot of TEK after the fact I see a lot of flaws, I think. As you can see in the video, he executes a A/B with absolutely no heat, He stirs just for a few min never shaking his A/B also he creates base and pulls about 10min after. At the time we are doing step by step. Another thing is he would not give any time for separation in the pulls witch later created goo in our trays. There was no re-exit video so ha we did not re-exit. Anyway, anticipation begins to build during freezer precipitation stage. We go out for drinks and wait for the fun to begin.

The next day we pull them out of the freezer and they look great. Just like they should, so we pour them off and dry them out. We begin to scrape the dish. There is a brown goo gathering on the razorblades under the top layer of the salt. Now I know that this is likely microscopic pieces of base from not letting it separate long enough. Salt, we were not expecting fluff, we were expecting crystals but whatever we gather it up goo and all and weigh it. Haha out of 250mg of it was about a gram and a half maybe. We were expecting more. I now know crystal growing is another process. Anyway, we get ready for the exploration.

We measure out a .25 dose and go in. Things were vibrating for a min or two and colors looked a little more saturated, but it was VERY weak. My buddy says fuck it and loads up the rest into the bowl about .75 and sure enough it was as weak as the .25, the exact same effect. With the last bit I roll some foil and try to freebase it for a stronger effect. I’m pretty sure there some goo in it for when I went in the hit burning my tongue, I wash that shit out immediately. The disappointment is beyond overwhelming. We were expecting to find some guidance, but we just find out we are morons. Haha.

Ok ok where did we go wrong? We start trying to figure it out and with the 75mg of root bark we have left we go in for another try. We repeat the process, but this time add a little warm water during the A/B (Not boiling) Also we let it sit in base for a few hours this time instead of 10min(Should have gave more time for separation also but did not realize what had happened yet.) Since we had trouble smoking it we decided to find a glass piece but where are we going to find a crystal pipe in this backwoods town that has no sodium Hydroxide and one Walmart. Hey, no worries because they sell them at gas station in town. We realize from a couple a bar conversations that meth and heroin have ravaged the town but of course no one even knew what DMT was.

Ok so how the fuck do we smoke a crystal pipe? No one knows but we are willing to try. My buddy loads up, covers what is I guess the carb, lights it, lets off the carb and sucks the DMT salt right into his throat and begins to gag. We are a laughing but I’m sure it was nasty. I go in, have a little better luck, the hit is light as they all during the entire process, could just not get a lung full. Again, it was so weak.

All in all whatever we still all had a good time but were disappointed with the situation. None of us had ever attempted to do something like this so I guess we got what we deserved. Still I want to experience this sometime, I am so ready so please after you get done laughing at our stupidity if you have any tips, see further flaws, whatever comments I would be so appreciative of it. You know I read on here about amazing experiences, but I never read epic failures and I WANT TO KNOW AND LEARN so please, I hope you have enjoyed my epic failure. LOL. Mad

I hope my next post will be awesome, Thanks for reading.

Your story kind of reminds me of the movie wild hogs, starring John Travolta.......

Seriously though, why not follow one of the well written methods, here on the wiki?
I haven't watched the video you linked, but the procedures here are mostly well written and quite descriptive.
It's hard for people to give you advice about where things went wrong, unless you provide plenty of detail about what you tried...

Many people here have found CYB's max ion tek effective and easy. Also, smoking changa seems a bit less finicky than vaporizing freebase, perhaps you could consider extracting your DMT then adding extracted harmala alkaloids from Syrian Rue and infusing some leaves with it. Extracting rue is no more difficult than DMT, it just takes a little patience to filter if you're doing kitchen chemistry.

Your mention of your ACRB source is sourcing discussion, so you might want to edit it out.

I think you mean grams rather than milligrams for your acacia weights, but I'm not sure what a .75 or .25 dose is. Are you trying to vape 750mg of extract?

Don't take this personally but I just can't understand this. Building a large lego model is more mentally taxing than doing a DMT extraction. If you can't do a simple chemical extraction that requires a basic level of intelligence to complete then I don't think you're ready for smoking it. I mean the internet will practically walk you through it step by step Laughing

The best way to package an overt insult, isn't it?

Now that we know you don't mean it personally, you don't have to use direct insults or own up to what you mean!

I didn't insult him, just pointed out the fact that it's a simple procedure, one which happens to produce one of the most potent psychedelics there is. 5 minutes on google will practically walk you through it. That was also true 10 years ago too.

Don't think what I said was that harsh really all things considered.

Aye. Extracting DMT is about as difficult as making a decent cheese sandwich.

Absolutely. Otherwise a Mod will edit it and that's not in your (abracadabraX3) favour.

The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. I hide no fact we made bad decisions during the first time with zero chemistry knowledge from the linked process I shared above. I found it to be comical. I find humor in my failures and can learn/laugh and move on, I share that with you in my story. I, unlike you was not born with a superior knowledge of chemistry apparently. Rolling eyes You also do not know my experiences, you don't know me. Seems to me you are blatantly insulting me. We are all one, when you insult another human you must look in the mirror for you are insulting yourself. I assumed this was a free place adults could share stories, ideas, failures and discovery. I guess not.

My friend please, I forgive you but in the our ends your comments and my forgiveness will mean nothing anyway. Why waste our times as I just have.

Good day...

But if you grill your decent cheese sandwich wrong it goes to waste, and you don't have enough cheese to make many mistakes. If it burns, you don't even know if you actually made the sandwich incorrectly or not. The grilling process takes a matter of seconds on a stove you've never used before.

I once made the mistake of using my house mate's butter substitute and all my cheese sandwich did was smoke and burn rather than fry. Smile

I've burnt a melted cheese toastie many times. And I'm speaking literally, not metaphorically.

Abra, generally speaking, people are very helpful here. If you post an extraction question with details of what has not worked for you, you will find that people are eager to help.
At least that has been miy experience.

However, it is a good idea to read and search for answers on this site, as most of the answers are already here, somewhere. Reading will also allow you grasp the fundamental chemistry knowledge which you require, which in all honesty, is not an overwhelming amount.

Written language is far more ambiguous than verbal language, and therefore you can offend, or be offended much more easily on forums, compared to talking to someone directly. The downside of forums....

I second this.. very well stated. There is quite a diversity within the Nexus community.

I enjoyed your story and found it comical as well. It is good that you are finding some levity in your troubles. Keep at it, experiment and learn. Sooner or later you will get it all figured out.

Thanks for sharing and welcome to the Nexus!

Lot's of reasons why someone would have a problem extracting. This is actually the place to come to ask questions.

I felt like he went into as much detail as he needed to provide (though I agree it isn't enough to deduce). "You can't do simple chemistry".. While it is semi easy for me now, it was not always. Plenty of people answered questions and built a wiki because it isn't easy. Cyb had to turn off PM's because even with a detailed manual.. he can't answer every question. (So don't worry about asking questions, just make sure to search first in the search panel).

As far as a solution.. I have found acrb to be problematic compared to mhrb. Max Ion tek is really well done.

Problem 2: You want 0 brown in your naptha.. if you have it dump it all back into the solution mix and let it settle again. I have found those plastic (yes people will beat me for saying plastic, but they work really well) candy droppers people use to make gummy bears works great for the "last little bit" as they will take up both naptha and the solution and the solution will settle to the bottom fast, then you squeeze and its just naptha left.

It is WAY Easier to keep things clean at the pull stage than to reex. I opt to lose naptha over getting any contamination. Also I have found acrb can be gooey and yellow a lot.. 4-5 different tries with different trees. The MHRB works every time and is white.. I went a little stir crazy trying to perfect my extractions on acrb only to return to a super simple "water bath" extraction based on tsp/tbsp and mason jar sizes based on Max.

Finally if it is white, but you scrape brown. 1. Let it dry A LOT longer and try a plastic razor blade and do shorter scrapes each time. Noticing any sort of "moisture" as that will cause the change from powder to a darker clay.

For some reason the plastic razor blades clean easier with alcohol between uses. I think it's due to it being "one piece" where a real blade has cracks things can gather into. Or just change them out a bit.

Have a great one.. good story!

LOL, sounds like you fellas had quite an adventure. It's actually (not really) a fact that everyone is supposed to mess up their first DMT extraction. If you don't mess it up, you're doing it wrong (right). Laughing

Nah, Just start over, take a different approach and be very very patient. Smile

The concept of DMT extraction is all related to pH and intermolecular interactions. I'll be honest, I didn't watch the video, and I don't really intend to watch it - but that's ok! Perhaps if I were still learning the basics of extraction a video might be helpful; but it will only be helpful if.... well.... it's right/accurate. (And it may be, like I mentioned, I don't watch those videos). [And I won't because I don't want it in my youtube history].

There are a few approaches to extracting DMT, but the main concepts are altering the molecule, via pH, to convert between the salt and the freebase. The salts are not vapable, you don't want to do that. The freebase is vapable, but often requires skill and finesse.

Two important things - proper pH for the appropriate step and surface area exposure. When I say surface area exposure, I'm referring to the amount of surface area of the organic/aqueous mix that can interact with each other. When alkaline, the DMT has a higher affinity for the organic layer, so it moves to that layer. However, if there is not appropriate surface area exposure, then there will not be a high concentration of DMT that transitions from the aqueous to the organic.

The Procedure that I use explains a little bit more about the benefits of surface area exposure, and also highlights that the pulls are done at room temperature. Once I have added base to the aqueous layer, no more heat. Everything is room temp from here on out. That reduces the likely-hood that plant fats and oils will migrate to the organic layer. Room temp reduces DMT's solubility in an organic layer, in comparison to heated, but it allows for a "cleaner" pull. So, do you want cleanliness and quality; or slightly contaminated and quantity (but poor quality)?

So, in my little write up, you'll see that I suggest "vigorous stirring" of the organic and the aqueous layers during a pull. Yes, this will be contradictory to what you hear from those who are less patient..... but the increased surface are really boosts yield. With vigorous stirring, an emulsion will likely form. That's fine! It separates. It may take 12-24 hours, depending how emulsified the mix became, but that's fine! It has actually increased surface area and allowed you too get a higher yield, with a more pure product.

See the link I attached and review it. Try to make sense of the pH values, time, patience, and the importance of surface area exposure.

Take Care,
ACY
Sometimes it's good for a change. Other times it isn't.
