I'm half of the way through reading the 3rd edition, its got some great advice. Thumbs up
But be warned, the book causes an acute compulsion to buy glassware Wink
When I'm finished it will be fun to skim through edition 5 to see what they changed in the decades after vogels death.

Just dont adopt his fondness for asbestos and benzene, find alternatives Laughing
For instance, I made a double layer velcro fastened lagging sleeve out of denim to cover the lower 60% of my short vigreux column. It worked great for recycling wet solvents so I've started making a denim-velcro lagging sleeve to fully cover my long vigreux for more serious fractionations. No asbestos needed.

I've noticed that! I've got GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) for a couple pieces of Boro. Nothing major, just a 1000 ml erlenmeyer with stopper and a 50 ml volumetric pipette. I feel the process of pulling this molecule deserves some legitimate gear. Anyone have a recommend towards an online source of affordable lab glass?

Useful data resource.

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."
― Jacques Bergier, quoting Fulcanelli
