SWIM extracted DMT from MHRB for the first time using q21q21’s tek. Beforehand, he evaporated some naphtha and it left no residue. SWIM followed the instructions in the tek to the t, and everything went just as described. During each pull, the solvent was perfectly clear and after freeze precipitation the material collected was white and fluffy. SWIM got 2 g of white stuff out of 250 g of MHRB, probably would have been more if he had ground the root bark more finely. So, the question is, can the white material be used as-is, or is recrystallization and/or a wash recommended? Also, SWIM stopped at a Michaels craft store just to see if they sold Bestine and they didn’t, so in case a recrystallization recommended, where would SWIM find heptane? Thanks.

Well, that white stuff is what precipitated from the naphtha. SWIM had only one DMT experience before, and the smell of this white stuff is the same “plasticcy” smell as from that experience. Thanks for the feedback.

The smell sounds correct.

Once you get more % yield the result will likely loose some of the white and turn more yellow. Some people aim for white as being more pure, but the yellow is just as active when it comes to it, it's just a personal choice. Blind tests could not differentiate. I hope you get some more yield later.

More yield should be obtainable by more rigorous contact between the naphtha and the soup and perhaps rising the pulling temp just a bit. But you can't get more than there is offered by the bark. But if you want only white spice you're on track
