so- many of you know by now that the dear mr. Uncle Knucles and i are chums. we held one another's hand through the trials and wonders of hyperspace travel as well as lab-partnered up for our first extraction.

mr. van d'lay is a giant LEFT brain with dainty hands.

i am a giant RIGHT brain with a large beard.

our extraction process was essentially Art doing all the research and legwork and me providing the kitchen and the hippie love-vibes. i placed pieces of paper with "love and gratitude" underneath everything we did and tried to fill the room with righteous intent.....but as far as chemistry savvy goes, i was a big ol' nuffin'.

our results were an interesting fusion: a decent-sized yield of righteous spice. pretty darn clean, but a bit o' oxide to be found as well. deeply spiritual journeys followed suit.

that was nearly a year ago and the time has come to once again summon the spirit of jurema from her barky abode...

in an attempt to see which approach garners what- mr. van d'lay and i have decided to divide and conquer. we both started our respective teks yesterday. he with the A/B upon which he intends to do every tiny detail possible to produce the purest imaginable spice. i'm opting for the STB with a deep meditative state held throughout the process. i will, of course, do as much cleaning as possible and will certainly do a rextal at the end.

so- as of today, i have a tray of pale yellow saturated naphtha freeze precipping in the freezer....mr. van d'lay is in the midst of "the boils".... we will both, of course, need to sample our respective yields...but i'm gonna be interested to see what this STB tek produces it was so easy and SO much quicker than the A/B we did last time....

i guess this is gonna just be a fun little ding-dong thread cuz the truth is: i'm using a pound of some powdered MHRB that's been in my freezer for about 6 months and Art is using a KILO of super-fresh powdered MHRB we JUST got from celestial source (it's supposed to be amazing....)

basically, if i can extract half or more of his total yield i will be smilin'....i am just super curious how this STB tek is gonna play out! i just peeked in the freezer and the 1300 or so mL or naphtha is already cloudy as heck! i just put it in there an hour ago! i did some serious praying and meditating throughout my process.....i'm feeling kinda "special" about all of it....

i'll DEFINITELY keep y'all posted!

....my thoughts are now with my dear Mr. Van D'Lay and his tender paws as he wrestles with his bubbling cauldron of acidified goop...

I just LOVE STB to get your sacred spice I always use positive intent when making mine..

It's just so simple and if you have good bark then the magic will follow...why bother with the A/B when the tinted yellow spice is just soooooooo wonderful!

BTW anyway you get spice is cool with me...

Antrocles - How you downplay your crucial role in our previous endeavors (there were two). It was truly the intangibles you brought to the table - not just the ubiquitous love and gratitude or the prayer beads hung from bottles; but rather the napping, the Wii playing, the constant pot smoking, the moral support bestowed from afar as you left me to our naptha pulls to take in a matinee of Paul Blart Mall Cop (not kidding). Whatever it was, we made magic, brotherman. I either could or could not have done it without you.

I'm sure the Nexus community at large will be firmly pulling for my bearded hippy friend in this Ali/Frazier style clash of the titans. I ask that you all say a prayer of safety and rub your beads for ol' ham hands. He has a tendency to set the kitchen on fire with those clumsy giant mitts.

Classic - the tools of the trade. I suppose I'm not alone in requesting another post extract video complete with measurements. What are the odds and are the lines closed on this yet?

oh i think something might have to make it's way on here.....i have to admit that things are looking pretty darn AWESOME! i've got crystals crashing out halfway up the bowl and the bottom is already covered! i'm sure i lost a little yield due to a couple little goofy mess-ups but all in all i'd be stoked to see 7 or 8 grams before rextaling.... remember- this powdered MHRB has been in my freezer for over SIX MONTHS!

i've got a pound of this super fresh celestial source bark to fall back on if this doesn't come good.....though even if it does, i think i'm gonna try my brother Jorkest's d-Limonene tek on it.... the idea of having citrusy spice has me all kinds of curious

ha...if you do it right ant...no citrusy spice for you...you just have to filter the FASW after pulling the spice from the d-limo...no citrus spice...just good old jimjam

I wouldn't go betting too heavy on oven mitts charlie. The yields may stack up, but ultimately, I'm aiming for something that doesn't put me in an iron lung in my golden years!!

alright....perhaps i'm being a little "unrealistic"...but i DO believe in swinging for the fences in everything i do, right?! if i can pull 1% (4-5 grams) i will be most pleased with myself....i think Art will have to acknowledge my extracting chops as well..

something interesting happened recently (written about in a different thread in the STB section but i thought i'd pull it over for the sake of adding SOMETHING of value here )...

so, after i added my microwaved epsom salts to my final-washed solvent, i shook it up, let it settle and poured it through a cotton balled funnel into my pyrex baking tray. i then covered it up with saran wrap and put it in my max-cold freezer. about two hours later i peek in to see if things are starting to fall out and i notice that i have crystals on the underside of my saran wrap!! this makes me go immediately into panic mode....water in the solvent!! eek!!

i pull out the baking pan, rip off the saran wrap, grab a new pyrex bowl i have up in the cupboard that has an air-tight sealing lid and proceed to pour the solvent out of the baking pan into the bowl. when i get to the bottom of the pan, i notice a bunch of sludgy yellow fats, oils and gunk (as well as what appear to be a couple of little ice clumps! ewww!)

i leave the last bit of funk in the pan and seal the new bowl and replace it into the freezer. the pan i put under a fan to evap....

now- nearly 24 hours later- i have the following:

1. a bowl that appears to be a quarter full of WHITE crystals with more falling out every time i peek in the freezer!

and

2. a pan of BEAUTIFUL, slightly yellow crystals with a lump of gunk pooled into one corner. the gunk looks like pure plant oil and has still not yet fully evapped....may never at this rate....but the crystals look REALLY NICE! almost like a jungle spice-style crystal...i'll try to get some pics up soon.

did i just do a poor-man's pre-emptive rextal? i'm still planning on doing one (may even do a test one on the baking pan stuff), but i have to say....this stuff in the freezer is REALLY WHITE! i'm planning on leaving it in the freezer til sunday (a full 72 hour freeze precip). we shall see what that bears. Art seemed to think i should have evapped the solvent a bit before putting it in the freezer, but i really wanted to see how powerful an STF (straight to freezer) tek could be...

...so far i would have to say it's pretty impressive. i can always try and evap what i pour off on sunday....

anywho, figured i'd keep y'all in the loop....trying new stuff over here so if anyone has any thoughts feel free to chime in!

this is a pic of the sludgey mess that had settled on the bottom of my freeze precip dish after two hours...i evapped it and you can see pretty much the story- lots o' crystals and lots of gunk. i have since rextal'd and it is almost evapped....slightly yellow, beautiful crystals.. you can see the tiny patch i "tested" just to quell my curiosity....that little scrape on top of a bed of my new changa took both impossiblemachine and i into deeply psychedelic nooks of hyperspace...

the other pics are of the transferred solvent in the freezer...crystals already climbing up the walls of the bowl and completely covering the bottom....also, VERY WHITE! still gonna rextal but this is pretty promising..

That's quite some grams of beautiful crystals - with thousands of miracles included when used responsibly, can't wait to read the follow-up!

more progress....about 66 hours of freeze precip, i pulled this outta the freezer, placed the leftover solvent in a tray and it is now in the garage evapping. combined this with the stuff i collected from the goop that fell out in the first two hours in the freezer.

it's all dry now and weighing in at nearly 6 grams! as you can also see, i've got at least a couple breakthroughs of powder i couldn't clean outta the bowl! think i'm gonna have to check this for quality...

it IS still a bit yellow.. though, personally, i love this elven parmesan cheese....i'm still gona do a proper rextal now with Heptane.

remember: this extraction was done on 1 pound of OLD rootbark that has been sitting in my freezer for at least 6-7 MONTHS!

....t'would appear that a little L&G goes a loooong way!

next photos will be of my finished product....anyone got any secrets they want to share to help me birth some glass-like perfection?
