My method would be,

1 - use 500ml beaker for 500ml deionized water add in slowly 10g lye (or litmus test till pH 12)

2 - add root bark 50g to the 1000ml Conical flask, add the lye solution shake well, leave for an hour.

3 - Add in 50ml Heptane, shake well, opening to release pressure each time, then put on hot plate stirrer at 45 degrees, wait till it separates.

4 - Pipette heptane layer into a glass dish, and put the pyrex dish into the freezer overnight

5 - take out, pipette heptane back into the conical flask, repeat step 3 and 4 (four times)

6 - Leave pyrex dish to dry out, then scrape crystals together.

You can do multiple pulls with the heptane, to recover more goods.

Also, using less water, or a bigger beaker, will allow you to stir without spilling.

Some find that using a vessel with a longer, narrow neck makes pipetting off the NPS easier.

If you want whiter crystals, a lower temperature is preferable (~45°C).

Don't bother with the coffee filter if the crystals have stuck to the dish.

Beware of condensation when draining the NPS from the pyrex dish. This stage needs to be done quickly, and it is advantageous to have a dish with a clip-on lid, both to avoid solvent vapours in your freezer and so you can turn the dish upside down and leave it in the freezer to drain off the last of the NPS without eating into yield. A straight-sided jam jar is quite good, but harder to scrape - tools and methods exist to get around this obstacle, too.

You might as well follow the "Max-Ion tek" now that you've come to this decision. Chuck in a bit of NaCl right at the start.

I edited the post above, just confirm it all looks ok, and i'm not missing anything, If I should extend some periods of time, I already took 250ml off the tek above in my one based on this tek https://www.youtube.com/...ue=290&v=nAlVWLqlsJA (and 40g lye because 50g lye just seemed wrong... i'll just PH it to 12 if 10g isn't enough anyways)

You need to have enough room in the flask for the water and the NPS, and the stirring action. 750mL is actually a pretty reasonable amount for 50g bark. So if you've only got a 500mL beaker, you'd be better extracting in 25g increments - hence the suggestion for a bigger beaker.

You can think of heptane as a highly refined fraction of naphtha, which it is.

Check the link in my previous post, Cyb's tek clearly states you can use heptane the same as naphtha.

Ok so my process at the top is fine,i leave the STB lye solution with rootbark for an hour after shaking well at room temp, and then after heptane is added, I shake well again but put at 45 degree and release pressure, and repeat this process multiple times when the layers separate?
