Decided it would be fun to try a side by side STB with two sources of bark just to see where I'll source in the future. Did everything as usual and one had yielded the usual nice yellow naphtha ready to freeze precip and the other...well it looks quite yucky.

I was reading to do a freeze precip as usual and then try an A/B to see if it will clean up.

Any other pointers? Any way to tweak this back into a nice white or at least yellow spice?

Yes, freeze. Separate dirty residue from solvent. Perform mini AB on residue.

I would do back-salting or titration and then basify by NaOH and extract/re-x/freeze-precip by heptane/naphtha.

It depends how dirty it is. Simply dissolving the dry freebase product in a minimum amount of distilled vinegar, adding water and then base and extracting as usual works wonders. A little heat can help it dissolve quicker.

As always never throw away anything until you are completely done.
