I'm having some trouble,

I did all the steps, the only two things that I didn't follow "precisely" were the following:

I used spring bottled water, not distilled,
the jars were in a room temperature (slightly cold) environment after the naphtha was put in.

My problem is thus:

The naphtha remains clear as day, there's absolutely no yellow cast, despite all the steps being followed precisely. Anyone have a clue what's wrong? It's been over 24 hours since I put the naphtha in, and I've been turning them upside down and back upright every hour or so for the last 24 hours.

I'm 100% positive the MHRB is good, it's from a very reputable place, and it gets as low as 65 where the jars are stored. Probably 65-70 at night (12 hours) and 70-80 during the day (other 12 hours).

I might also add that the MHRB hasn't dissolved in the solution like I've seen happen before, it's chill very "chunky" (it was shredded before going in).

I took a fork and kind of mixed up the bark in the container and I could see bubbles floating upwards into the naphtha, I'm assuming this is a good sign?

Well, that doesn't really sound all that bad.



You may just want to pull the naphtha and stick it in the freezer and see what comes out.

If you don't get anything I suggest adding back the naphtha and then giving it a gentle stir, warm it up a bit (hot water bath for 30-40 minutes), but really that's about it.

I use tap water, so I wouldn't worry about spring water...that's never turned out to be a problem for people.

just pull it...see what you've got. Yellow doesn't mean a succesfull extraction, and clear doesn't mean a failed extraction.

I used Ronsonol lighter fluid for naphtha and it always come out perfectly clear. There is always DMT in it though. I was also worried on my first extraction because it didn't look right. But sure enough, next morning there were some nice little crystals waiting for me.

Very cool, I'll give it a go then, the only reason I asked is because someone once told me that if it's not yellow it's no good.
