First of all, it is important to mention that I live in South America and make my extractions using MHRB / Lye / Hexane. The point is: After talking to several friends who make extractions like me, a doubt arose between us. Is it that in the extractions in which the crystals become very yellowish, does this occur because of the polymorphic characteristics of the molecules, or because of oxidation by excess of lye?

Empirically, we observe that in extractions with less soda and in those in which the soda is added very slowly the final result are whiter / transparent crystals.

The yellowish crystals resulting from these extractions smell a lot stronger (and to me a bit unpleasant) than the whites / transparent ones.
