Starting to move into the Zendo Spot for "burns" and music festivals.

I bought the Manual for Psychedelic Support from MAPS and have read it cover to cover. I have been tripsitting random people on high dose psychedelics for a long time now and understand not to get involved in the experience, but rather be more of a lifeline. In general this is good.

I have purchased a elrich and marquis kit and understand how to test with both. I understand calming breathing techniques stemming from Yoga.

Where I fall short is outside of psychedelics and even many place with RC's. I am an entheogen user almost exclusively and honestly I have different intentions than most who use even those. Honestly I can't see anything being as wild of a ride as entheogens except for maybe dissociation.

I have the cross charts from tripsit and psychonaut. I have the OHT provided by some wonderful people here.

What I am looking for, is how to sit people on RC's. What are the "er" now symptoms and any other reading to help me with "party drugs" as I don't party.

Seems like Zendo information is kinda outdated as well, though the support manual is wonderful. If I know the people, and know what they are on. I am golden and do a great job. It's the people who say "I have no idea what I took, I don't feel right" is who I am concerned about... because all I have to go on right now is.. "time to hit ER". The nice thing so far is that we have had on sight nurses or EMT's. So I work with them usually for the unknowns.

Being able to help someone calm down who is panicked, means a lot to me. So I am willing to put time and money into this..

Thanks in Advance,
Ess

I have often thought about getting into the Zendo. I have read all their information and manual. I have taken psychology classes. I have been through hell and back in my own life. I have a lot of psychedelic experience. Perhaps someday I will volunteer.

I would think that when you are working with the Zendo crew, your responsibily is to provide emotional support and nothing more. If you go outside of this support then it is time for someone else to take the reigns so to speak. I know the Zendo work with psychologists and councelors, ask them for support. I don't know much about RC's but I think anyone coming to a Zendo tent just needs a breather and support.

Unless they have taken something that has been adulterated. I was with a friend once (luckily on my part sober for once) who had taken a micro dot and started acting strange, like he was dizzy and light headed. Thinking he was stressed due to the loud music, black lights and dozen tripping people around,i took him for a walk and then a drive to a quiet park. Once we got there j his breathing became shallow and he was going in and out of consciousness. Luckily i got him to the ER after running out of gas, getting lost in the way and finally calling 911. He ended up "dying" and being resuscitated. The doctors told him he had been poisoned with cyanide.

I think OP is asking how to recognize symptoms that are life threatening as opposed to just a freak out. And as you said, utilizing the opinions of tv's medical professionals on site would be the best practice. However, how many tents have those people on site? I ask because I've never been to festival. Social anxiety precludes a desire to do that kind of thing.

If you get a chance to go to a burn in the US (almost all local states have one).

For Nexians it also has a great opportunity for you to share the knowledge from over the years by helping others who can hug you when they are down finally. If you join their Tranquility Base or whatever their trip sitting area is called, you will get time with medical staff and help calm the minds of tripping people or just protecting them as they make their way through the journey.

It's really a neat place to be because 1. If you are here, then this is one of the topics you love.. and you can meet like minded people volunteering. 2. You actually know more than most volunteers already. You may not think you do, but understanding reactions like with MAOI and not to interfere sometimes with emotional trips is a huge benefit to people who think it's all about "cheering sad people up". You teach others.. 3. It gives you a purpose to go.. so if you find fun things to do.. great, if you don't you got to learn all weekend and talk about topics you love.

I have Social Anxiety Disorder I think.. maybe less intense? I don't dislike large groups because I am anxious, I feel bored instead and wander usually. Also, large crowds usually - rowdy at something like a concert. At those it's about avoiding drama.. I don't enjoy things like the effigy burning at a burn like other people do. "Oh neat, let's go find a place to be 'alone into the alone' for a bit". That may be SAD disguising itself in reasons to be anti social.

In the end that really has to be a damper... over time, large festivals with close friends are some of the best times I've had doing adult things in the last 10ish years.

Every festival I have been to has medical professionals onsite. If someone shows up to a Zendo tent, they are evaluated to determine if it is emotional support that is needed or if medical attention is required. If it is emotional support that is needed they are directed to someone like Matashaman. If it is determined they are poisoned, overdosed, or any other medical emergency, they call an EMT or doctor at the festival. From what I have seen, they have the process of evaluating people down fairly well. The Zendo tents are great for freeing up the EMT's and other medical professionals to take care of medical emergencies.

Sorry to hear about your friends poisoning! That is terrible! He is lucky that you took care of him that day!! Insane that someone would poison some with cyanide like that! Always best practice to test anything you are consuming with a reagent kit. www.dancesafe.org
