Plese let me ask...
I know nothing about this technique, I have never germinated cactus seeds, so all is just my assumption.
I believe the peroxide is there to kill everything what could cause fail of germination.
If I was germinating the seeds, I would sterilize the soil and the container, then I would put the soil into the container and moisten the soil with diluted peroxide. Then put the seeds. Then spray by diluted peroxide and close the lid. Everyday I would spray by diluted peroxide, but just the surface with seeds.
I believe there would be little possibility of contamination.
What do you think? Does it make sense or is it complete nonsense?
Acceptance of the fact that our reality is not real doesn't in fact mean it is not real. It just leads to better understanding what real means.

I believe you should try this as your own experiment. Nothing ventured nothing gained as they say. My soil received no special sterilization and is indeed a bit heavy on the organic side. You might wish to use a completely different soil or one with less organic matter for your set up.

Almost Everything makes sense to me, that is why I have to try things to see what actually works and sometimes I adjust fire and shoot down a different rabbit hole.

Look at Auxin's set up. He has a very nice take on things. Experiment and see what works for you.

In my ideal world, I might have gone back and soaked my seeds in a cup of h202 added a teaspoon of vinegar and let that steep for 3 days. Then, I might have washed my seeds a few times. Ran a dilute mixture of Ga-3 and DMSO into the water and dropped my seeds back in to that Ga-3 DMSO mixture. Followed that up with planting them a few hours later in a soil heat sterilized and treated with h202. I might also have used significantly less organic material in the soil.
But, that may have to be another experiment.

Definitely bring on the experiments though... love em.

I have quite a lot of seeds on their way and should have some peroxide somewhere so once I have everything ready, I can try some seeds with and some without peroxide and report the numbers here

Looking forward to it! Just make sure you have enough stock purchased to get some grafts started. 100-200 Pereskiopsis for instance can often fit in a single seed tray... makes for easy grafting in large numbers should you decide to go down that road.

So, I have bottled water ... I went to the website that produces it and found the analysis says it should have a ph of 6.9

I plan on adding a pinch of ascorbic acid, as that is what I have on hand, to the bottle and then using that water with a tiny bit of ga3 to soak the seeds in for about 24 hours.. Then I will rinse off the seeds in non ga3 water and sow them in a solution of this ascorbic acidified bottled water and h202.

They will be sown directly on top of plain sand and put inside bags to keep in moisture.

I've also been using bottle caps to sow seeds. Milk jug caps seem to be the most convenient form so far due to the sturdy, wide structure of them and that they are ubiquitous. You can also find different colors which is nice for specifying strains when you put 3 or 4 caps in one plastic bag...

Ok... gotta go to bed.

Day6

21 July 2018

Tested h202 today... still active. Which is a positive. It means the magic of the h202 is still working on the soil.

H202 has picked up some yellow color from the soil.

Germination continues to proceed. A halt has occurred to the fungus. Problem solved for the mean time.
