The stereotypical "stooopid burning man hippies twirling balls on strings" towards the end, didn't exactly give off the vibe that people left to their own devices are always going to use LSD responsibly.Confused
But I guess they have to include that aspect of the "counter-culture" that is keeping LSD alive these days, to remain balanced in the documentary.

Personally, I was particularly interested in the guy who was talking about the tests being does by the group of scientists who where given LSD & then allowed to use the deep, introspective & "novel" way of thinking it provides to attack certain problems they were having trouble finding ways to solve...up till then.
The first LSD-Think-Tank! And it sounds like it was working, until it was shut down...right in the middle of one of the experiments!
I like his reaction to the shut-it-down letter..."I think we received this letter, tomorrow"...Laughing

I haven't seen it yet, but my neighbor was one of the actors portraying a LSD user. My wife and I are going over there to watch it.

They were pretty tame subjects though when you look at the bigger picture. People are all too aware that there are folk who get in to that sort of thing, so I guess I thought it was nice to see a bunch of cheerful folk with no visible scars Smile

WS

agreed.

I was particularly annoyed by the elitest doctors who had to throw in the "drug takers" label into their commentary, with a rather negative tone.

I'm also one who feels these psychotropic agents have therapeutic utility, as well as problem-solving potential.
Unfortunately, there will always be those who abuse these wonderful tools, and those who will cast a generalized stigma on them, having never even tried them. from an experiential perspective, those people shouldn't even speak on something they know nothing about.

I caught this is as well over the weekend. I thought it was pretty good. What about the guy in CA offering therapeutic sessions with pure lsd!! Its good to know LSD though more underground these days is still thriving in new ways. I felt bad for that guy with cluster headache, but not taking the the bromo for his headaches was ridiculous.

That was a man who took his words seriously & he gave his word to his daughters!!
Exactly what is wrong with that?
I actually find it refreshing to see someone live up to their words for a change!! Especially a promise made to his kids...however unfounded it may be.
That is a man who puts his kids before himself!! Even in the face of incredible pain.
That is impressive to me.

I would guess that he had the "drugs are baaad...m'kay" talk with them & now they are scared that their dad will turn into a junkie if he takes anything illegal.
We all know how absurd that is, but there are many more people out there that take all that govt propaganda as 100% fact.

That's the "drug war" for ya!
And just another reason why it has been a horrible thing.
That poor man & his kids would be at ease if suddenly it was called "legal"!!!
But we know how being called legal doesn't really change anything at all.

But remember that our little community of free thinkers is very tiny compared to the rest of the population.
And that population has been flooded with misinformation about how horrible psychedelics can be, for over four generations now!!

I applaud NatGeo for including that segment!!
As it shows how the lies of the "drug war" are causing pain to everyday people who have nothing to do with black market drugs.

WS i know what you mean. He made a promise and held to it, I admire that as well.

BUT.... its not like he would be taking real lsd and tripping for the rest of the night, its bromo, theres no psychedelic effects from it at all. Its like taking some Tylenol for a headache. I guess it depends on what he thinks a drug really is (legality). In this case he would be receiving it from medical professionals, not a hippy on the corner. I doubt bromo lsd is even scheduled anyway, in that case its legal.

Yes it is illegal...according to that doc. And I'm guessing the Analogs act.

And effects were not the issue...according to the dudes explanation in the doc, he said he made a promise to his kids that he wouldn't take any illegal drugs. And that he is trying to help get Bromo made legal so he can use it without breaking his promise to his kids.
I think it's time for the kids to tell dad they want him to take the stuff to help his headaches...illegal or not!!Wink

I think they had that guy say that for the show. Anyone who would really not take a potential effective treatment for something that stupid is a moron. Sorry but come on if you are really having those headaches, why in the world would you not get rid of them. I saw a talk from the guy who started Cluster Busters. They use LSD, psilocybin mushrooms, morning glory seeds and Bromo-LSD to treat these headaches. He openly admited to growing mushrooms and it was even in the news paper. The DEA has not arrested him or other suffers even after they have openly admitted to growing psilocybin and possessing scheduled drugs for therapeutic value.

The doc was misleading Bromo-LSD is not scheduled. Also it would not be considered an analogue as it is non-psychoactive. It has not been FDA approved and is not widely known.

If that was my father, id say go ahead dad and get some help with meds. Did you see that dude in crazy amounts of pain?, thats really sad. I couldnt bare to see a family member like that, especially over some possibly illegal drug.

I know right? I saw a talk on cluster headaches from the guy who started cluster busters. He said that a survey was done and at least 10% of these sufferers have attempted suicide. This is a seriously painful disease.

Unless he is a cop I think they were just having him say that for the dramatic effect. Also Morning glory seeds were also found to be effective and Bromo-LSD is not illegal or psychoactive. Morning glory seeds are widely available and no one would arrest this man for using them.

If someone have seen this one in full and can say was there anything important missing from part 5 (there is at least 2 cuts) ?

Thank you Smile
