Xylene instead of d-limonene? Technical grade hydrochloric acid instead of vinegar? Aren't you at all worried about your health?

SWIM has done the xylene and d-limonene techs side by side and the d-limonene one always outperforms the xylene tech. I really don't understand why you'd want to use xylene.

I eat things with vinegar all the time. I cook with it. I'm not bothered by it one bit. Hydrochloric acid fumes bothers SWIM A LOT. Xylene's smell even bothers his neighbors!

SWIM would much rather use vinegar than hydrochloric acid, plus he can get food grade vinegar, but not food grade hydrochloric acid, so that makes a difference as well.

People have been using vinegar in their diet for a very long time.

I don't think acetates are unhealthy. I never heard of that before. People eat things with vinegar all the time. Pickled vegetables are full of acetates. Any food you eat that’s got vinegar in it has acetates that have formed in it.

Phlux, I think that acetate causing living damage thing is total BS.

Calcium acetate is added to lots of food.

Sodium acetate is also added to lots of food.

Zinc acetate is used as a dietary supplement.

If acetates caused liver damage I think food manufacturers would be getting sued right and left with all the pickled foods, and other stuff with tons of acetates in it. That just doesn't sound right to me. I don’t think acetates are a health concern.

Sounds like complete BS to me!

You must be thinking about something else. I know oxalates are not good for you. Maybe you're thinking of oxalates?

If you did the MEK wash correctly, the mescaline acetate is an off white free flowing powder. It's not even nearly as waxy as DMT is, so I don't see why it should matter much.

SWIM now considers the HCl tech obsolete.

Maybe acetone with a mix of heptane or something to pull the polarity of the solvent the other way I guess.

Maybe this is now getting off-track considering the topic, but...

Why mention toxicity as a reason for using limo/vinegar, when swiy is only going to wash it with something such as MEK? Seems like that negates the argument.

Another quick point is that there most certainly are clones that have been traditionally used in a medicinal setting at amounts that I'm sure would surprise most people. Several have been described as more than twice as magical as SS02, which ain't too shabby in its own right.

Of course, it's just hearsay.

This is really getting off-topic. This conversation doesn’t belong in this thread. I answered these questions where there belong, in the thread: Non toxic food safe extraction of mescaline using d-limonene (orange oil)

69Ron - ppl still use aspartame - need i say more.

dlimonene is being used this time and the type of salt just boils down to preference i guess.

I don't use any of that stuff, so I don't have to worry.

That is why I like this resin method.

My friend tried this today and it was going great until he had to leave home for a couple hours. Swim set the stove to the lowest setting and covered the pot. All the water still evaporated away and the cactus slices got burned. Does he have to start over? He needs this for tomorrow..going to a pretty lights show!

Depends on how hot and for how long. SWIM once left some extract in the oven on 200F for like 5 hours and it was totally ruined, but who knows how quick it actually degrades and at what temp.

That's not vinegar. Show me evidence that vinegar is bad for you. I’ve never heard of such a thing.

Ok Ron, I cant back up my argument with facts as i cant find the article i was referring to.(Strangely i had thought you had been the one to post it when discussing various mesc salt forms.)
At least accept this tho :
According to ayurvedic text, my dosha is to avoid vinegar.
I am not from india but it has a large population(makes up a good percentage of the worlds population) and a fairly ancient healing system, i dont really use any western medicine at all and i dont pop some pharmaceutical tablets everytime something hurts.
If we were both from india, we would be both referring to our knowledge of that healing system - for me, in those texts its stated to stay away from vinegar.
To me it smells poisonous - and like i said before, its just my preference.
4 out of your last 5 posts here are just arguments against what i said, not offering much else - i really dont wana start an argument man, there have been too many here lately.

Phlux-, maybe you’re thinking of the post I made where I brought up the fact that some sulfates can cause upset stomach and that mescaline sulftate is probably a form of mescaline to avoid.

In the USA we use vinegar in salads, catsup, salsa, chips, meats, pickles, all sorts of things. I just can’t believe its bad for you. I have vinegar on a daily bases. I love the smell of vinegar. My mom used to cook with it a lot so I’m accustomed to the smell.

If you feel its unhealthy, you should trust your own body. What’s good for one person might not be so good for another person.

100% agreed Ron - vinegar makes me feel sick - the smell makes me want to run for the hills and it makes my sweat smell siff.
I listen to my body over anything.

Im preddy sure it was that post about sulphates but im almost sure it mentioned acetates too - maybe it was another post but i know for a fact i read that here - perhaps the post has been deleted caus i cant find the reference no matter how hard i search. I should have found the reference before posting so sorry about that.

Blizz - "Why mention toxicity as a reason for using limo/vinegar, when swiy is only going to wash it with something such as MEK? Seems like that negates the argument."
If you wash a sock in acetone then put it on the washing line outside - does it contain acetone 1 day later ? i think not - mek evaporates cleanly and its used to wash the salt.

Im not a chemist so this explanation could be dodgy - if it is im sure someone will point out the issues with what i said.

When an alkaloid is in salt form it is the active molecule + the salt selected for use - like dmt + fumarate, acetate, hcl, sulphate, oxylate, etc...
So if a poisonous acid like oxalic acid was used then the salt has a portion that is poisonous.

Vinegar is used quite alot where i live too but i know im not the only person to hates it with a passion.
Just out of interest - and again im not the only one that feels this way - but i wont use ammonia - that also just freaks me out on some deeper - dont touch it - level.

I don't like ammonia either. I can't stand the smell. I like sodium carbonate as a base or calcium hydroxide. Sodium carbonate is as strong as ammonia but seems a lot healthier. After all, when you bake muffins with sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), that sodium bicarbonate becomes sodium carbonate from the heat in the oven, so when you eat the muffin you’re eating sodium carbonate! Tastes good to me! Just don't over do it. It needs to be diluted to be safe.

Also calcium hydroxide is used in orange juice to add calcium content. It’s also found in vitamins. It’s very good for you in small amounts. Again, just don't over do it. It needs to be diluted to be safe.

breakMYhead, I have mine stored in the freezer. I have just tried some a week and a bit old and are just as good as the day they were made. I expect they will last quite some time.

Why wouldn't you just store it at room temperature or in the fridge?

I don't like freezing things.
