Sometimes my eyes close, sometimes not. Sometimes this is a result of choice, sometimes not.
With large doses, my eyes almost always close automatically, while in medium to low doses, I have to more consciously choose to close my eyes, as it doesn't always feel that natural to do so. It can be interesting to also consciously hold one's eyes opened, and just see reality cease to exist in any familiar sense, replaced by an alien underlying reality.
When with open eyes and looking around the room, objects often seem to contain/be spirits or "small" awarenesses or seem to be entities in a dream-character like sense. Blasting off on medium doses after having had a drink or two can be cool for OEVs, the alcohol makes it easier to keep the eyes open (though also it can prevent the experience from getting more than shallow in some cases).
Overall, the experiences with closed eyes have been the more meaningful and deep ones, while those with open eyes have been more recreational in smaller doses and more terrifying bordering on delirious in a few cases with large doses and open eyes (it was also not a good set and setting at that time, so it wasn't the open eyes causing it per se, just that the stress prevented me from closing my eyes in the first place, and seeing the room imploding in impossible spatial dimensions while having no memory nor an experience of time was a bit distressing).
I am a bit stoned, I think it took over an hour to write this, hope there is some coherency and meaning in the text, and that I actually answered the question
Intensity increases exponentially until you reach the I of the storm.
