I want to know if it's safer to use rima's instead of maoi's. I've only had one experience with acacia confusa and syrian rue, and I was painfully vomiting for a bit of the trip. Also, would be interesting to hear what rima or maoi dosages are recommended for someone who does not wish to risk endangering their physical body.

RIMA are in essence MAOI with a reversible mechanism of interaction (Wiki if you need details). Read up [Harmalas] MAOI Drug Interaction Disclaimer over in FAQ before you do anything. Safety 1st.

In general reversible MAOI are safer than non-reversible. Remember though that they are still MAOI. NEVER mix with SSRI and be cautious about what you eat.

I had major issues with Syrian Rue as well. Even small doses give me gastrointestinal issues (including projectile vomit once ;-) ).

My solution was Moclobemide (my doc didn't even ask questions, mild depression was my reasoning). It comes under multiple brand names (Aurorix, Clobemix etc). 150mg works for me well, 300mg inhibits the enzyme almost completely. Wait at least an hour after taking MAOI for it to act properly.

Ps. If you do go the doctor route use the visit to ask any questions you have concerning MAOI.

The trick when using RIMAs to facilitate orally ingested DMT or its carriers is to find the dose range that works for you without causing too much N+V. People vary a lot in this respect.

Ballpark "doses": ground rue seeds = @2-4grams, extracted rue harmalas = @150-250mg, B cappi vine = @50-150grams. I'm not familiar with B cappi extract dosing. Tregar may guide here. Moclobemide is rather effective with minimal side effects = @150-300mg.

Many would advise that B cappi delivers a subjectively superior aya/anahuasca experience. More visionary and dreamlike. Syrian rue has its own "flavor". Moclobemide seems relatively "sterile" but is a very effective RIMA. Additionally, the CNS effects of DMT and its cogeners also includes N+V, though generally not protracred. Ondansetron, lemon balm, peppermint or ginger may mitigate this.

Peace

Now that you mention being careful with what I eat, I am rather sure that I ate a lot of salmon the weekend that I did that trip, maybe that's why I was vomiting so painfully? I'm sure I didn't mix with an SSRI since I'm not currently using any sort of pharmaceutical medication. What type of doctor would I need to visit to get a prescription? A generalist or a specialist?

Which of the anti-nausea solutions works best in your experience? And approximately what amount?

It might have been that. There is no way of knowing for sure. In general anything high in Tyramine should be avoided to be on the safe side. Google up dietetary restriction with MAOI if you want to know more. It's not as serious as an SSRI or some stimulants but it's still a concern.

Any GP can prescribe it. It's a very common medication in EU. It's not approved in the US though. If you're in the US you may need to resort to online sources.

Many ppl desribe it as 'sterile' compared to Rue or Caapi but it works wonders for me :-)

Ps. Ginger tea and bananas works very well for nausea with me at least.
