My dog is pulling out the crockpot and throwing in 50g of mimosa in there. He wasn't sure how much water and citric acid he should use(he is currently lacking ph paper). Also, he is going to put it into sodium carbonate, and is unsure of the ratio on that.

just enough water to cover the bark, then do soaks with a teaspoon or two of citric acid until the liquid starts coming out yellow.

Thanks, worst comes to worst he will just have to use more base later. Any idea on the amount of base, or will a PH meter/paper be needed? He has read a lot about various phs, but it seems that whilst a lot of people push for 12+ ph, it isn't required for it to be that high. My dog is removing me from the computer now so will post results later

You need to keep adding the basing material until the colour has changed through grey to jet black. This reminds me why I don't use sodium carbonate for an A/B extraction. It DOES work, however I often have to add a lot of liquid to the mix to make the sodium carbonate soluble enough, so it's important not to add too much acid in the first place, or you'll end up with 2, maybe 3 times the amount of liquid you started off with. Also it's very important to reduce your collective soaks beforehand to aid in keeping liquids to a minimal. But you need to be able to shake the contents thoroughly without any foam forming on the top off the liquid, otherwise it's going to give your solvent a hard time.

Pulling alkaloids from large volumes of water is very time consuming and a lot less thorough.

alright will be sure to keep liquids to a minimum. if solubility becomes a problem with sodium carbonate, will just mix desired amount in warm/hot water

It should be ok though, as you're only using 50g's of bark, you shouldn't need too much materials.
