I was taken aback today when I caught a whiff of what smelled just like refined DMT crystals. It appears to be coming from the tiny flowers of this plant in the photos. The plant seems invasive to the Hibiscus plant it is growing in. I took someone who also has smelled pure DMT extract and they also noticed the uncanny familiar smell. Does anyone know what this plant is and why it might smell like the spirit molecule? The flowers are very small, about half the size of a dime. I've included one photo of a Hibiscus flower on the same plant to show the difference in leaf and flower size. Anyone know what this plant is?

Let us declare nature to be legitimate. All plants should be declared legal, and all animals for that matter. The notion of illegal plants and animals is obnoxious and ridiculous.

I have no idea what plant that is, sorry. I just wanted to say that I often catch that smell drifting through the air when various plants are flowering (trees, bushes, flowers) and it is instantaneously arousing, like a surprise mental erection. I went several years without having any spice around until one day, when I was walking from my office to my car, that very scent gently wafted into my nose and made sweet love to my soul. Not too long after that, I had coaxed nature into bestowing upon me a magnificent treasure of elf pollen, the smell of which I could enjoy on demand. Ah, the lovely bounty of nature!

I don't know what that plant is. If it were me I'd extract the aromatic plant material and send it out for analysis if anything interesting precipitates.

I've noticed the smell before during warm weather but have never been able to identify a specific plant that makes it. I probably look silly with my nose up in the air trying to chase down the scent...

PS: Did you mention the DMT smell to your friend before he smelled the flowers?

Any suggestions for where to send for analysis? I guess I could pick off some flowers and extract into ethanol.

Benzyme or Endlessness may help.

Lots of plants smell like indole.

Here's an old thread you might find helpful.
