After years of lurking, I finally decided to shed my cocoon and spread my metaphorical wings to join in with the rest of you beautiful creatures. I began exploring hyperspace in early 2014. A series of events unfolded that year that lead to a multi-year hiatus that had nothing to do with hyperspace directly but could be seen as an extension of a solid hyper-slap... if you know what I mean. I've recently started delving back into the mysteries lately, but now I've built a solid foundation for which to return to and integrate these experiences.

As a way to get a little bit of discussion started, I'm curious about how the rest of you go about setting. I realize this is personal to an extent, but as an example it seems like I have had an easier time integrating experiences when my setting is well lit, with calm background music, and having familiar objects about my person. While I'm not disregarding the value of exploring different settings, the past three dives I've taken into hyperspace have been in near-complete darkness, with little to no noise. I have to say, it's not that these experiences have been "bad" but they do have a darker quality about them that seems similar to a nightmare. Have any of you played around with your setting? If so what have your observations been?

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Hey Scew, welcome Smile

I usually prefer low lighting, though have had plenty in well lit areas, and also darkness. Rarely have done in silence, usually with some type of downtempo music, or if I'm feeling real high energy I put on some higher energy electronic music . There's multiple reasons I use music though. Music seems to provide a nice driving force ime, or even a sort've anchor in a sense, though once I reach a certain point all the music goes out the window pretty much, non existent, or barely perceptible or so vastly altered to the point of not any longer being music in the typical sense.

I've not found any correlation though between lighting levels and how the experience unfolds - whether well lit or darkness. One of probably less than a handful of my dmt experiences were 'rough', 'bad' , or whichever name you want to tack onto it - and remembering back on those times they were all in well lit areas, though they were done in a decently sized room. So hard for me to say how lighting might affect it.

And yeah hyperslaps can be rough, challenging. I took a few hiatuses from smoked dmt and changa on a couple occasions, but not from being hyperslap'd so much, just incredibly powerful and perspective-changing. Even done a couple hiatuses from pharmahuasca and aya analogue preperations - shook me real good, certainly challenged all pre conceived notions.

Most of all I want to be as close to being as fully comfortable as I can be before I embark. Fluid and sort've loose, making jokes, laughing, just creating a nice backdrop to shoot off from. I definitely don't rush it in any way. Number of ways I approach it. If things/plans don't work out for that day then that's how it goes - I just hold off. The day's got to work, as far as being fairly unimpeded and no major diversions. Emphasis on the day being fairly loose and relaxed [or at least a few hours up until the point of journeying].

I'm sure there's other stuff I'm forgetting. Though it typically sums up to ambient lighting, light music, candle/s, comfortable clothes, a glass of water near by, or something to that effect. Usually a comfortable recliner-style chair or comfortably sitting with back straight up in a comfortable chair, eyes usually closed. Just what I tend to do. Cheers
