Aloha!

I've had a problem for a while now, and I just wanted to see if anyone has a solution. I've been buying these ball jars and the seals on the lids always dissolve after a few days holding solvent, and the film on the jar falls into the aqueous layer.also the rubber expands and won't be airtight. Does anyone here buy special jar lids that don't have bad seals?

I use the plastic lids attached. Inside the lid is the number 2 which I think means it is made with HDPE. Resists many solvents including acetone from both what I read and my personal experience. The metal lids covered in plastic had many issues.

I use these to shake acetone during salvia extracts and also to sore dilute HCl solutions.

Just because they work for me does not mean safety is guaranteed, just sharing my experience here. Use caution and adult judgment.

what i've done is buy sheets of teflon used for baking, easily found online.
i just cut a circle a little bigger than the inside of the lid and press it in.
works a charm. never had a problem since.

I use glass vinegar bottles with narrow necks with plastic or metal cap that have a coating that will resist light acids...

Using canning jars is an easy way to expose your self to ..[more vapors] from the solvent faster because the jar mouth is much larger..

In my early days i tryed to use canning jars with sealed metal coated lids but got tired of exposing myself to fumes and once found out how easy it is to knock over the jar...

Use glass narrow necked bottles and a pipette to transfer dmt rich pulls to another vessel..and while doing this i use a small computer fan close by to direct vapors safley out the window ...but before hand i make SURE..! no one is out there to notice the vapors!

If needed.. using a vapor mask is advised..always remember solvents are flamable!

I used a 100ml flask w/glass stopper & a keck clamp, to remove the NPS a 10ml pipette. This equipment cost about < = $15.

What is that?

By the way, that's a nice pipette you have there. Where did you get that? How much?

BTW, I used to use Masons too,and had the same issue - it's the NaOh- but found that cider jugs make better alembics

Hey ALoha... I've had the same issue and just bought a pack of lids and paid close attention to when they deteriorated, but THIS THREAD !!! YES! Great help, folks! Ehrlenmeyer flasks! BAM. The neck will help my pulls, I'm sure! THANK YOU, ALL!!

Ground glass is by far my favorite but bottles with lined PTFE caps work great for long term storage. An empty milk jug and cap can do wonders as well.
