Bruce Parry does amazing work with traditional tribes, his most recent series in the amazon is amazing. I really admire what he does and he creates so much awareness as to what traditional people are going through in our modern world today to try keep their cultures and traditions alive.

Here is a link to a part of one of the most moving amazon episodes: Amazon

It really made me far more aware as to what is going on in the sacred and precious amazon rain forest, its not just the oil industry, logging industry, animal trade and hunting that we need to be aware of.

Yes that cocaine video always gets to me...

The funniest is when he takes the snuff and all the shamans are dancing around and making noises like wild men and you can tell he just doesnt have a clue!

I like bruce perry..we need more anthropologists like him..
When I was in anthropology class they would talk briefly about mushrooms or peyote, calling them Phantastica drugs or something like that..it was so stupid these professors were like newbs with absolutily no clue!..I had one teacher that totally admired and knew Wade Davis and had heard the stories so I think he sort of got it..but lots of them are just full of academic BS.
Long live the unwoke.

Fractal Enchantment

I had no idea that cocaine production was so prevalent in the amazon rain forest that episode really opened my eyes to what is really going on. I loved that it was so cute man, I really enjoy his openness to take part in anything and the amount of respect that he has for all the cultures that he lives with. He is truly a great inspiration and completely refreshing.

I'm so sorry man, try doing a search for the video: Bruce Parry sees how cocaine is made in the Amazon. Maybe you might be able to find it elsewhere. Let me know if you find it as i don't want you to be exclude from the discussion due to copyright restrictions. Wink

I think he's doing good and important work... but I still find him a bit annoying, he is constantly analyzing whats going on trying to describe it to the camera .. like when he takes ayahuasca, he is not able to really journey with it because his mind is constantly trying to define and analyze what is going on. He's got quite a typical british thing about him!

But again, I have him to thank in a way for getting me into ayahuasca... last year, a friend had seen that episode, and I was due to go to brazil .. he told me 'you gotta find that stuff man!' and so I began looking into it.
balaganist is a fictional character who loves playing the game of infinite existence. he amuses himself by posting stories about his made up life in our plane of physical reality. his origins are in other dimensions... he merely comes here to play.

Bruce Parry is wicked. One of my favourite people on TV, although he does do the analysing thing (I suppose he has to really) I really admire the lengths he goes to to integrate and not be judgemental.

... and just to bring the tone down a bit!

Bruce Parry rocks, I particularly like the time he takes the snuff too. He really does have a very open minded way of thought, his Iboga experience also looks quite deep.

Indeed it is, so you aren't going to miss out than on this discussion after all. Its really heart breaking actually, this industry that is only growing in demand world wide which has moved quite a bit from Columbia to Peru (Colombia has an intense stance on the cocaine industry where as Peru does not have such strict and intense forces against the cocaine industry.)

Peru has some of the most beautiful and precious forests on our plant which are just getting destroyed, which of course affects the tribal people who live in these forests. It makes my heart so sore and brings tears to my eyes, I have such a deep respect for all traditional tribes that are left today. Sadly they suffer so much just to try and hang onto some sort of existence never mind a happy one. Crying or very sad

I've watched every Bruce Parry! I agree he does a lot of good because he shows these substances in their proper context as sacraments. I expect normal people are attracted to his programmes just because they want to see him puking, but in the process of watching they hopefully gain some appreciation of cultural relativism. His straightness (ex-army upper middle class) makes him accessible to the normals.
I wonder if his programmes might in part be responsible for new interest in some rarer entheos such as vilca etc and psychedelics in general in the UK.
Yes he's a bit of an ego like most presenters, and it's funny what a noob he is, but he is positive and obviously good at building rapport because most of the tribal people seem to take a shine to him. Go Bruce! I would like to share a pint (/snuff) with him one day.
Everything I write is fictional roleplay. Obviously! End tribal genocide: www.survival-international.org Quick petitions for meaningful change: www.avaaz.org/en/
End prohibition: www.leap.cc www.tdpf.org.uk And "Feeling Good" by David D.Burns MD is a very useful book.
