SWIM says: I recently smoked some ganja with an old buddy I hadn't seen in years. 3 deep tokes and it hit me HARD and instantly. My body felt like it was being pulled by some strange gravitational pull which was spinning me incredibly fast vertically like a wheel. I immediately asked him quite shocked, "Did you put any Salvia in this bowl to play a joke on me, bro?" He shook his head, "no, dude I wouldn't do that to you!" I asked him again and he was dead serious.

I then layed on his garage floor totally shocked because it was hard to stand and then came intense, strange geometric/fractal patterns reminiscent of my LSH journey that I posted about not too long ago. The intensity came down to a simmer after about 1.5 hours. My friend drank some beer and I talked his ears off for hours. The geometric CEVs overlapped into my open eye vision the whole night. I had cotton mouth, and a metallic taste in my mouth...the psychedelic experience as a whole was so different from everything I'm familiar with, although some elements of the phenomena were very much like Salvia and LSH.

Now I'm not an experienced ganja user, and the last time I toked MJ was WAY before my first DMT experience. So I'm wondering if my use of psychedelics has made me hypersensitive to the psychedelic potential of ganja because I don't know of any other explanation. So, is Mary Jane ever psychedelic to you guys?

All MJ's pretty different. I smoed some hash this one time that was visually very similar to a mild dose of LSD. I never really got serious euphoria on MJ like I do with other psychedelics though. Not in the same sense of the word anyway.

There's a reason MJ is classified as a hallucinogen. Eat a strong brownie and even a seasoned smoker will get OEVs.

I've been using MJ legally for many years now and I've never experienced psychedelic effects from it. It calms my nerves, relieves nausea, and increases pleasure, but has never been psychedelic for me.

She's been a great friend through this process, but never a guide.

2 yes, 1 no. Hmm...That is interesting, soulfood that you had a similar experience to mine. I've never heard of OEVs from MJ brownies...then again, I only have one pothead friend. a1pha you must feel damn lucky to get it legal.Smile

Yes, if you only smoke Cannabis once or twice a month and no more, then it can be very entheogenic/psychedelic.

Yes- to OEV but only when large amounts of hash taken orally.

I wasn't sure what was going down at the time (25 years ago) and only later discovered its classification as a psychedelic.

yes cannabis can be extemely psychedelic, easily as strong as LSD if you dont smoke it every day. The psychedelic effects of cannabis canbe really weird and freaky and make you think time has either slowed WAYYYYY down or stopoped.

One time I was on mushrooms and my gf at the time came over..she didint smoke weed barely at all and had never eaten it..I had some cookies Imade inthe freezer and she kept saying she wanted some..I told her to go slow and only eat half of one first..so she ate 2.

about 40 minutes late she was completely freaking out..she loved mushrooms and said she had never been that high on mushrooms..she said she was stuck in her memories, reliving things from her past and having strange visions..this went on for a few hours until she coalmed down..I had to get blankets and lay on the floor withher until it wore off.

Another time I actaully had to call 911 for a friends who ate some cookies me and another friend made..he thought he was having a heart attack and told us after that he saw god. I was freaking out becasue we were growing mushrooms at the time and had tons of weed at our house but the paramedics didnt really care..the cops never came so it was ok..sorta stupid to call 911 for just pot, but he was friends I loved the guy and wouldn't chance him actaully being in danger.

I have had full open and closed eye visions from cannabis many many times. I only smoke now maybe 2 times a week and get psychedelic effects every time..if I take more than 2 small hits it canget really strange and I cannot be around people.

I also agree a real cannabis trip has some parallels with salvia..it makes me feel all the negative things I have felt with salvia before..and the de-personalization of salvia seems to be there with highdoses of cannabis..cannabis also seems unique in how it canmake one truely delerious..in some ways at really high doses I think cannabis is a deleriant psychedelic..maybe not for everyone though.

Wow, so all save one of y'all say MJ is personally psychedelic. See I never got into MJ because I always thought that I wouldn't get anything more than a nice high. Getting high is nice, but I can get a nice runner's high easily every time so I don't really have a need for other methods to euphoria. I've always been after spiritual enlightenment hence my immersion into entheogens...I was under the impression that ganja has the potential to be psychedelic but for the vast majority of users is not. I figured this topic would be old news for you ganjaheads but I still thought it was worth posting because it's interesting to know what MJ does for individual members on the Nexus.

I smoked some more of my buddies ganja gift last night, this time secluded in my dark, silent room. I didn't feel the insane salvia-like gravity pull but the geometric patterns came back and this time they were more dinstinct as OEVs than CEVs. The patterns covered everything in my room, and so I just lay there for a while staring at them. Then I decided to say hi to Sally D because I hadn't felt her touch in a long time, save for being a transport into DMT hyperspace. One smooth toke, 4 minutes later another conservative toke, and she sliced my room into sections which began spiraling, and so I decided that was enough. The spiraling subsided, and for a good 2.5 hours I just lay there staring at the red/green ganja patterns covering everything, and now synergizing with Salvia's spirit as well. It was pretty peaceful despite the huge increase in sensitivity to sounds of cars, planes, and trains etc. coming from outside. I kept waiting for something more to happen, and felt kind of bored like I should paint what I see to get more out of the experience, but I was too tired for art and just fell asleep. I now realize how spoiled I am with elf spice when taking lesser entheogens that don't teach us much..well in comparison to DMT of course!

my thoughts change instantly and the mindset is reminiscent of psychedelic meditation,
along with the empathy for life, and the frequencies life is composed of; Music...

swim has enjoyed the psychedelic effects of cannabis since he discovered this way back. potent indica varieties that have been left to completely mature, maybe a bit too long. you know, the sticky purple stuff encrusted with trichomes.
for best effects, refrain from sugar, and alcohol. refrain from cannabis for 1-2 wks if possible.
swim smokes with pipe or water pipe, 3 deep hits, hold, and take deep breaths after each toke.
then immediately off with lights and into bed with no other distractions.
swim has experienced amazing visuals and hallucinations this way.
many times, experience can last till nearly dawn. nothing like this happens for swim with regular daily use.

^right on!..that's the way to do it..cannabis can be extremely visionary..not just visual. Done that way it can be as visionary as mushrooms or ayahuasca in my experience..the visions are of a different nature usaully though..sort of like remote viewing..but I have also gotten into states VERY similar to DMT and mushrooms..maybe because I have done them so many times..maybe from natural melatonin/other tryptamines who know?..but it's amazing once you get there.

There are a few things about MJ i realy don't like: it's addictive, when you use it frequently it becomes less psychedelic and it's merely a sedative, it stays in your blood for more than a month and most of the marihuana tastes like shit when you smoke it.

Having said this. As a psychedelic, taken orally no more then a few times a year, i find it actually a better psychedelic then LSD.

Visually it's inferior to acid, but in physical sensations, aural effects, psychological effects and perception of time it is in large amounts equal or even superiour to LSD in my opinion.

I would compare it to 5-MeO-DMT.

I find it inferior to DMT, mushrooms or mescalin though.

^ yes it is sort of like 5meo in a way...
I agree as well it's really addictive when you smoke it every day..I used to smoke it all day and be addicted to it. I hated it.

Now when I do smoke I have to be careful becasue of how powerful it is..when I smoke it's like taking any other psychedelic..very powerful.

i am a HUGE proponent of cannibis. i use it every day and have done so for almost 6 years. i think it just happens to synergize with my DNA in a particularly magical way. is it psychedelic/hallucinogenic? absolutely. have i learned powerful insights about myself and the world (same thing Pleased )? without question. actually, about 90% of the time i travel into hyperspace, it's with a wonderful spiced weed i make with a particularly potent sativa saturated with a nice jungley spice. for me, these two medicines go together in a way that almost leaves me feeling like it is MY perfect combination for growth and learning.

...everyone's different, but that's the way ol' 4-eyes here likes to travel. in a post i made a while back, i likened many of the entheogens we all work with to a "royal hierarchy'" of sorts. Salvia was the extremely exacting queen. DMT was the benevolent, loving king. Mescaline and Psilocybin were wise jesters.....and Cannibis.....well.....cannibis is like the Page at court that is loved by all. he will introduce you to any of the other members of court and will just hang out to make your meeting more comfortable.... he's YOUR friend, he's THEIR friend.....how can the vibe be anything but awesome when the Page is involved??

honestly, for me there is, as yet, not one single medicine i have worked with that DIDN'T have an even MORE positive effect with the addition of cannibis.

i'm just a humble po' thead i suppose.... Pleased

LOVE AND GRATITUDE!!

Very interesting. I've never seen ganja compared to 5-Meo-DMT, and I haven't found out yet if this rings true with me...all in good time.

Yes, I've been hangin' with my old buddy since that night, and every time he pulls out the MJ and offers me some. I have to say no, because it is exactly like with you, fractal, VERY psychedelic, and so not too smart for social gatherings. My room visually turned into a ganja room last night before sleeping, and I appreciated it more than the two previous trips. There were definite strange auditory fluctuations, and a machine-like humming sound that went on and on like on the come back from DMT.

That's a very clear way of puting entheogens into perspective! It has more artistic symbolism than what I usually use as an illustration which is the solar system analogy whereas DMT is the Sun, and all others are orbiting planets, and moons.

after reading all these wonderful posts I just had to go smoke..just some of my mid grade homegrown stuff..one puff..so nice!

I was given a bag of some really strong stuff last week from a friend, but it's for special occasions becasue I trip balls when I hit that stuff!

I really like to smoke when I am comming down from psychedelics like mescaline and psilocybin..and right before salvia..cannabis brings alot of euphoric love into the sometimes cold/metalic aura of the salvia trance..

I notice lately that when I dont smoke more than 3 times a week all of the negative things like constricted breathing and wanting to munch out all the time aren't really there..

I owe a lot to cannabis..in many ways she saved my life..opened my eyes and let me realize who I am..opened the door to other teachers...she's my ally and always will be..I used her a bit more than I personally needed to in the past so I had to stay away for a bit but now our relationship is good and healthy..no regrets.

Extremely. It varies so greatly though with strand...some will leave me mellow while others will leave me hallucinating and thrust into magnificent thoughts whilst others will leave me feeling a bit good. anyone know any good studies done to find out how even though its the same chemical it will cause such vastly different results?
