I'm really curious what's the longest ever someone as an active "new" member to become a "regular" member. I've joined the community in 2016, answered a bunch questions, and even wrote up a personal essay. It feels like a school entrance exam where some rich kids with connections got to attend the school just because.

Is the fastest way to become a regular member having another member vouching for him/her? It feels like a catch-22 when there are ideas/experiences I want to share but unfortunately "NEW" members are not allowed. I can understand the logic to keep the community under some sort of vetting process, but I do feel that at the same time it seems writing up a personal essay, answering tons questions and being somewhat active for a year isn't enough to show.

Not to flame or place blame, but I just feel stifled where many ideas and thoughts I'd like to share were still blocked while I have no idea how long it's going to keep like this. Any suggestions?

hello Big grin
i can't say i haven't seen people who been active for long and yet not a full member, that does happen
moderators are not much in number and doing all this has become a demanding task
however there are some key topics to help you get a full membership
first of all you probably already know this website is very focused on extractions, and if you contribute to this by documenting your extractions with pictures and so on you're very likely to get promoted, almost a craft-fetishism situation Razz
however other topics like experience reports that are well written and not rushed, these catch people's eye too,
i think the motto for nexus is a full member should know their way around researching (like google) and not repeating same questions that were asked before, so eventually a presence in both extractions and experience reports, and a presence in nexus-chat will make it likely that people vote for you, sadly personally i don't go into new member area very often so i may vote once a month or even less, so i think thats also an issue with full members of the website etc
hope you get to full-membership soon Love

Thanks Espurrr! These suggestions are very helpful. I will try to contribute in these areas more. Unfortunately I'm currently traveling and my notes from the last couple extractions (while poorly documented and photo-ed) were left at home.

I will try to share some of my aya/DMT/entheogen related experiences soon! Thumbs up

Hello,

Members have to vote for you in order to become promoted. I don't remember how many votes exactly though. Also, you can post about ANY TOPIC in the different welcome areas. Once promoted, those threads can be moved by a MOD to the appropriate section.

New members are limited to keep the quality of posts up and the trolls out.

The main thing is to keep consistently contributing by showing other members that you genuinely want to be here. Dropping into chat is another way to get to know some members faster and vice versa which sometimes leads to faster promotion as well.

Everything Espurrr said is good advice.

Good luck

If you joined in 2008 and stay inactive forever you are not gonna get a promotion too.
Just make interesting posts. Reply to the post that you can reply too and then it will happen one day Smile

I basically dumped all interesting stuff I wanted to talk about in the New Members Section.

And I did not write a proper essay as I didn't know exactly what to write. I just left experiences there that troubled and fascinated me. And I probably messed up the Questionnaire, too, as chemistry or anthropology are not my main focus *caugh* Also, I do not chat.

I engaged in conversations and stayed continually active for a month or so (still doing so). And I focused heavily on topics that interest me, allowing me to provide my own perspective and maybe offer a good idea sometimes.

Good things are said.
Don't bother too much over it Thumbs up

"Freedom of expression" is often used as a basic right, one to be allowed by default anywhere and anyhow. But does that make sense? It has rotten enough corners of the internet already, anyone could use it to unhinge a carefully crafted niche. I'm not suggesting that you sbios would do so, far from that, and therefore I think you do not need that argument for motivation of your stance.

Freedom of expression dont apply like that tho. This is a private forum so the rules of the owner apply.

Freedom of expression does not mean you need to be allowed to post here.
Freedom of expression means that I can go ahead and write on my blog "Nexus sux" without trav being able to call the police on me.

Spot on mate.
LOL i always find it funny how distorted peoples definitons of freedom of speech and expression are. It just dosnt seem to register that this only protects you from persecution from our government(if you live in the US) and nothing else.

Don't do what I did ,argue and debate with full members 😂. It took me over 200 posts to become a full member. Some people post 2 times and get full membership because of a pretty picture or sucking up. It's not fair but nothing in life is. You got my upvote lol.

I got upgraded within 10-15 posts, because of the stuff i was talking about. I also spent a lot of time answering the questionnaire as best i could. The new members who write "don't know" as every answer typically stay as new members.

Engaging with folks in the chat is also a good way of fast tracking. Unfortunately, most full members and beyond are too busy chatting in the full member chat, so we often forget or don't notice the empty Welcome Area.

Thanks to all for the feedbacks. Very valuable advices.

And thanks to the supports, I'm actually quite surprised by that... having an assumption about new member area as being somewhat neglected bunch, just simply not true. I'm noticing more on how we're so limited by our construed realities based on imperfect information. Often we're not aware of our limited thoughts. It takes a certain openness to be able to change the frame of mind and perspectives.

Maybe I'd take a screen shot and crop that lil seedling for memory! Wink

you could even enlarge it and probably be the first ever member to have a big nexus seedling as their profile picture.. I reckon that would turn some heads (or some plant heads) Thumbs up

Link to the seedling image.

Just have to right click the seedling icon and then click "view image" to get that link. Or right click and click "save image as" to save a copy.

Having a Mac, there is a neat trick to capture screen shot of a portion of the screen by dragging the mouse without going through cropping steps. It's just a simple hot keys and selecting the area. I was able to save it before it disappears. Thanks y'all! Rolling eyes Rolling eyes Rolling eyes

β€œThere is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."
