I'm loving my vaporizer and I haven't seen others like it on the Nexus or elsewhere. I apologize if this type of pipe concept has already been discussed here. This concept utilizes a piece of laboratory equipment called a
U-shaped drying tube:
In a lab, the bulb is filled with a drying agent such as cotton which removes suspended liquid particles from gas passing through the tube.
These tubes can be used to make a vaporizer such as this one:
It works like the Machine: copper meshed is stuffed into the opening of the tube, spice is melted onto the mesh, and the opening is heated from beneath to vaporize. Works like a charm. Here's why I love using these drying tubes:
1) It's easy to keep the tube perfectly vertical when vaping, which produces big hits with little waste. Nothing drips into the downstem.
2) You don't need a bed of herbs to vape through a bong or bubbler.
3) The tube can be oriented so that the opening is clearly visible to the user. This makes it easy to heat the spice+mesh perfectly.
4) The drying tube can fit into any glass pipe with a compatible glass joint.
5) You can take the tube off the device and prop it upside-down for loading. A cup filled with crumpled paper makes a great holder for the upside-down tube.
6) Typically make out of borosilicate or other heat-resistant glass.
7) They look really cool.
The ideal U-shaped drying tube should have a 14/20 joint. The inner diameter of the outlet tube should be less than 15mm and this is true of most 14/20 drying tubes. They can be found for cheap.
