My experience is not with DMT, as such, but through the vegetal, the mysterious tea called Hoasca. I do have experience with other psychedelics and entheogens. I have ingested the vegetal tea over 30 times, under the rubric of being a member of the UDV church.
There's plenty of folks who will give you suggestions on the technical aspects. I'll offer that generally this is not my area of expertise. I offer some suggestions for dealing with the spiritual side of things.
It is my experience that the particular substance matters less, than the manner in which one prepares for it. I'm not talking about the technical manner in which the spice is prepared, or it's relative quality. I'm talking about the preparation of a particular person, before undergoing a journey.
I don't use the word trip. I personally am looking to go to KNOWLEDGE when ingesting an entheogen, or psychoactive substance. So to me, this is the first step, of conditioning mind and consciousness that one is taking a voyage to knowledge, rather than taking a trip on a drug.
It is my experience that one's voyage to knowledge starts before ingesting the actual substance itself. Clearly, you have done some prep work on the means, and methods of delivery. I can trust that in time, the seeker will find that which s/he seeks.
When one seeks, the answers will ALWAYS present themselves--this is not the difficulty. The trick is: once you get the answer, what do you do with the answer?
Before a journey to knowledge, one needs to prepare himself. I suggest a moderate form of fasting 24-36 hours prior to the blast-off time. Part of the reason for fasting is nutritional, yet more importantly is the application of consciousness to your quest, or making communication with the fource, and the power behind the experience, well in advance of the actual blast-off. In a sense, it's like putting in a reservation with the positive entities which can help one in his quest, simply for the asking.
There is no such thing as TOO MUCH preparation when it comes to an entheogenic substance.
The idea, ideal, or fasting here in this application is not only for proper physical health, and keeping a good mindset. Yet, in the coursed of the human's life and his normal dealings with life, the human tends to hold on to baggage, even if it's in the form of intestinal dreck. Rotting, decaying meat or other food in the gut actually holds back a person in his voyage..at least relative to the vegetal tea.
Proper mindset, proper body health, proper spiritual estate are all super-important first steps which should be observed by one going to Knowledge.
"Spiritual estate" is that non-material ground upon which a person stands to establish his field of experience in the astral realm. The body feeling of FEAR is a self-defeating estate which many folks get drawn into after dealing with non-material entities. One's spiritual estate may be to keep higher vibrations present throughout the voyage, and it seems that this one is able to deal fluidly, and successfully with some pretty heavy emotions. This "spiritual estate" is the emotional and spiritual setting which someone starts to occupy, once the ego starts to dissolve.
An important aspect of maintaining a solid, positive spiritual estate is to address those issues which are likely to come up for review at a session. There is NOTHING that one can hide or shortcut from the vegetal, or the DMT flash. Wed can kid ourselves, but not the tea, nor the "self transforming machine elves". To me, the biggest, most important aspect of getting ready to do the spiritual estate clearing of looking objectively at those things which need fixing, and addressing under the field of the vegetal, and the Fource.
Before each and every session, it's important to set for clearly stated intentions on what questions, or issues for which one is looking for assistence. Having an issue, a life concern in need of redress during a voyage, is one of the more important elements in "going to knowledge," rather than taking a fun recreational trip on an otherwise unpredictable vessel.
During the voyage, she can be spoken-with, and addressed as an intelligent, conscious entity. We have the phrase: the competence of the vegetal. She can and will make up her mind on alot of things, and it will behoove us to ask questions of this force, rather than thinking we got it all, and it's all us and nothing else.
During a voyage, it becomes very clear that the paultry human intelligence and reasonings are pale, and threadbare, by comparison to what the Great Spirit has to offer.
So, these are some regulations I go through on my quest for knowledge. Hopefully some of these suggestions will be found valuable to you as well.
The Omniverse will always provide the answer. This is the easy part. Ask, you shall receive.
The real problem comes once you know. Playing dumb is no longer an option.
