From what I can see here kayjay, both of your shots look like a mixture of young phragmities and mature phalaris arundinacea(the plant with the dried flower heads/non-picta)..
do not use phragmities for extraction, nor any plants growing around phragmities unless you are seriously experienced in advanced chemistry/extraction techniques.
Just grow your own phalaris plants. It's a lot of work so buckle-up and do some research here on the Nexus for more information regarding the entire, lengthy process for grass extractions. It can seem very easy to entertain the idea at first because grass grows basically everywhere but please be careful and do some critical search engine homework.
