I want to give recrystallizing with acetone a shot, but I'm having trouble locating the specific methodology.

Do you treat it the same as naphtha, as in hot water bath to dissolve, freezer to precipitate?

Your alkaloids will more than likely be readily soluble in tone without the need of it being warm. I think the more you warm up tone the faster it starts evaporating. As for precipitation, the only way to retrieve your end product out of acetone would be through evaporation.Afaik freeze precip works only when using some of the higher members of the alkanes family.

Forget recrystallizing with acetone. It dissolves impurities too well too, so you wont separate anything out, and you can't freeze precipitate because DMT is too soluble in it even at freeze temperatures.

Do you have a suggestion for a more effective recrystallization method?

Search recrystallization in the forum and the wiki, lots more information available then what someone could tell you in a single post, for freebase, you use heptane, for fumarate, you can use isopropanol

Have you had any problems with naphtha re-x of freebase? How much naphtha per gram of dmt have you used, and what were the results?

Not really, I've recrystallized once or twice with naptha, if only primarily to clean out a jar. Worked fine, definitely upped the crystal content (although honestly what I've enjoyed the most has been the waxy phase I got out of my second pull). I haven't weighed the amount of DMT, but I'm pretty certain I've used more than enough naphtha judging by how much came out of my precipitations. Some things I've read made me think acetone was a great easy way to get rid of all the possible trapped naphtha. And also sounded like a convenient way to clean/consolidate jars. But i've had no real trouble with naphtha.

And I'll definitely do some research on those other guys now that I know what to look for
