I'm in this forum to learn more about ibogaine, specifically how it works in the brain. I don't do any illegal drugs, but I did make the massive mistake of trusting my family doctor who prescribed an anxiety medication, called buspar, cos I had some jitters I mentioned to her. After a few months of feeling no positive changes, I decided the drug was crap and stopped taking it cold turkey cos I had no idea you aren't supposed to quit psych meds cold like that. It triggered withdrawal syndrome. Now I'm on 2 other meds to deal with the deep deep anxiety and depression from the withdrawal syndrome. My nutrients are out of whack. My new doctor is working with me to get my B12 and vitamin D back under control (it dropped my B12 down to 107..extremely low), my serotonin, and cortisol are not being self-regulated and are also out of whack. And I was resigned to the fact that it can take years for the brain to heal and relearn how to self regulate. I still am resigned to that, but I heard about ibogaine and have hope that maybe healing can happen in 1 to 2 years, instead of many years.

I have learned all about how it helps dopamine, but only learned somewhat how it helps heal serotonin levels and cortisol, and would like to learn more. I'll be going to Canada to get the treatment in one of their centers after I finish tapering off the psych meds next year. I want to go in knowing as much as I can about it and how it heals the brain. Any info would be dearly appreciated.

Music is alive and in your soul. It can move you. It can carry you. It can make you cry! Make you laugh. Most importantly, it makes you feel! What is more important than that?

Hello and welcome to the Nexus!

I don't personally have any experience with Iboga but we do have a sub-forum dedicated to it, if interested:

Iboga

Be sure to drop by chat sometime, too. It is a valuable resource, the people are quite friendly, and response time is obviously a bit quicker than the forum.
