So I'm going with nomans tek with heptane as my solvent. I plan on following the tek nearly completely, but the following advice from a seemingly trusted member of the nexus community was left on a thread some time ago re: heptane extraction, so I was looking to expand on it just a bit further...

"you can still get good yield with heptane if you go heavy on the NaOH, and do warm pulls, with long, thorough mixing, and many pulls."

My 1st question would be how much lye per g of mhrb? The ratio in nomans is 1:1, so would heavy on the lye mean 1.5:1, 2:1?

How warm of pulls? 100f? 120? 140? Should a heat bath be utilized?

Pulls with long, thorough mixing: meaning what exactly? Mixing once for 10mins? An hr/2 with several mixes spaced in?

Last - many pulls: I've got 500ml of heptane ordered. Is this sufficient? Should I still use 1:1 ratio of mhrb-solvent and how many pulls? The pint gets me 10pulls max, but at 50ml/pull is this excessive?

That's the whole of it I think. I'm exceedingly grateful for the time and patience of everyone who has helped me over these past couple weeks.

Hopefully my travels will commence very soon. Smile

1:1 is plenty,

heptane is not much different than naphtha, if you followed everything as is it would work just as fine you might just need to do a couple extra pulls

for temp, do the pulls when the jug is warm to touch but not hot
