Time to celebrate the first year of those fellows T. Peruvianus and T.Pachanoi started from seeds:

2 month old (not the cuttings obviously Razz ) :

6 month :

8 month :

9 month :

1 year :
Bottle of champagne for scale and celebrating Cool :

Same age, the bigger and the smaller (which is recovering from a bird attack that cut its roots)

(for scale, here the lighter is a big model but in previous pictures it was a small model of the same color)

At first, they were very slow but after 6 month the speed of growth became exponential and it makes me very happy. I think i will be able to check potency (processing extraction) in one year to know those who deserve propagation by cutting. Patience...

The cuttings after 9 month :

Impressive growth and soon, it'll be time for cutting

And the newcomers from seeds also. A mix of named clone breeded :

4, 5 month old, so they should start fire-rocket-grow soon Smile

Did you perform an extraction and if so, what was your alkaloid content % fresh/dry?

I did root the top cutting (see above) and extract the middle section which was about 50 cm and weighed 1kg (no idea of dry weight). I only got 250mg of mescaline (no final clean), i was a bit disappointed with this 0.025% yield but the cactus was fresh, fully hydrated and i used the whole thing (core, white and green flesh). I guess if dried and no core it could be 0,5%. Still low but i have to test my other plants, i might be more lucky.

Today is a big day for me. First time one of my cactus is flowering.

This small yote started from seeds and grafted on a young pedro 10 month ago :

Showed it's genitals today :

Despite it, literally, exploded one week ago (too much water). Notice the second flower coming up, one or two days away from flowering :

Oh, and i noticed the pistils moved after i tried to pollinised with a small bruch Surprised

So cute, I'm enraptured (enruptured? Very happy )

My Lophs have all been self-fertile with no intervention. Were you cross-pollinating yours?

I mean, I say self-fertile but I really should try germinating some of the seeds first!

No other cactus to cross-pollinate so i tried the self-pollinate approch.

The 2 previous flower died after 2 days but this morning i've been surprised by this flower fest :

As noted in my 'Lophs fruiting' thread, the fruits take about 6 months to form after the flowers have dried up. Then they pop out as suddenly as the blooms can/do. Hopefully you'll get a nice surprise towards the end of the year!
